The Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA) is the national professional association of registered and enrolled midwives in Tanzania. It was founded in 1992

It is an independent volunteer-led organization with 20 branches and more than 4,000 active members.

Under the Midwives Connect Project, funded by the , midwives are strengthening their digital voices — sharing stories, impact, and advocacy through social media. 📱

We are building momentum toward the Mkunga Half Marathon in Moshi under the theme:
💙 “One Million More Midwives” 💙

Midwives were trained on digital content creation to amplify their work and elevate advocacy for mothers and newborns.

This is more than a run — it’s a digital movement of midwives making their voices visible. 🌍

Midwives Connect: Where Voices Become a Global Movement 🌍

A few weeks ago in Dar es Salaam, under the Midwives Connect Project funded by , we brought together 40 midwives from the Tanzania Midwives Association Muhimbili Branch at Muhimbili National Hospital.

It was a space of connection, learning, and shared purpose 💙

We focused on:
💻 Digital advocacy in midwifery
✍🏽 Signing the 1 Million More Midwives Petition #
🌍 Strengthening the global midwifery voice
👊🏾International Day of the Midwife (IDM)-Mkunga Half Marathon
