When We Lose a Mother or Baby, We Also Lose a Piece of a Midwife.

Did you know?
When a mother or a newborn dies,
midwives are the ones who carry the weight long after the room goes quiet.

They were there for every contraction.
Every breath.
Every hope.

They don’t just lose a patient —
they carry the what ifs, the grief, the questions…
and then they are expected to move on to the next birth.

💔 Midwives are healers, but they are also human.

We remember Dr. Sebalda Leshabari (Tanzania) and Basak Ardalani (Canada)—two incredible midwives whose skill, heart, and leadership saved countless lives. 💛

They showed us the power of teamwork across borders and inspired midwives everywhere to care with courage, compassion, and excellence.

Though they are no longer with us, their legacy lives on in every safe birth and every life they touched.

💥 A MIDWIFE MAKES HISTORY: DR. MWAJUMA MDOE GRADUATES WITH A PHD! 💥

😱 We can’t keep calm — before the year ends, history was made!

On 4th December, Dr. Mwajuma Mdoe officially graduated with a PhD in Clinical Midwifery 🎓

She is TAMA Vice President and a lecturer at and one of the very few — the second known PhD holder in Tanzania with a full Midwifery academic journey (BSc → MSc → PhD) 🇹🇿

With 10+ years in Midwifery education, ~15 peer-reviewed publications, and innovations like an evidence-based home care guide for post-caesarean mothers, Dr. Mwajuma is transforming maternal and newborn health. She shows that Midwives are leaders, researchers, and innovators.

🚨 THIS IS WHY MIDWIVES SAVE LIVES. 🚨

On 17/12/2025, I — Midwife Valentina Mapenzi — supported a mother with warning signs of pre-eclampsia, initially advised to undergo surgery.

Through close monitoring and skilled care, she delivered safely:
👶🏽 Baby boy, 3.6 kg
✅ Mother safe
❌ No surgery

That same day, I also supported a first-time mother with twins — both babies delivered safely 🤍🤍

This is not luck.
This is MIDWIFERY.
