One of my highlights during this trip was being invited by .health.tanzania to facilitate some sessions for a Mental Health Program. Sharing knowledge regarding stress, depression and PTSD with this amazing group of secondary school children was fulfilling, fun and very engaging.

🔑 Some key takeaways:

1️⃣ We have been taught to associate stress with negative emotions and worry, but what if we learn to embrace stress?
2️⃣ Depressive disorder affect more 332 million people worldwide, and women are at a higher risk of developing depression than men
3️⃣ Unmanaged stress can lead to chronic stress, that can lead to both physiological and psychological challenges
4️⃣ Sources to depressive disorder can vary from social factors, biological factors, internal and external factors
5️⃣ PTSD can present similar symptoms of depression, therefore sometimes misdiagnosed at first
6️⃣ PTSD can exist alongside depression, substance use and other challenges

Our bodies, minds and souls are connected. What may start mentally can lead to physical challenges and vice versa. Remember to take your health and mental wellbeing seriously 💚

COLLABORATION TO STRENGTHEN STUDENTS MENTAL HEALTH🌱

We had a productive meeting with the leadership of Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) to strengthen mental health support for the students 🎓🧠

Together with key stakeholders, and the representative from MHT we shared our programs — Academy, Tuliza, Therapy Services, Workplace Mental Health, and EAP — and explored how we can better support both students and university staff.

A key outcome was the commitment to establish a Mental Health Club, set to launch in May 🌱

We believe in collaboration 🤝 working together to build stronger mental health systems within academic institutions.

Hey everyone,

Happy New Year! While the new year is just a change of date, it's a good time to take account of what you have achieved or what you'd like to change for the new year.

To encourage this, put a special offer only for the 3 month commitment classes. This will help you build routine and discipline and really see the difference yoga brings in your lives.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the mat on Monday!

As .health.tanzania (MHT) opens a new chapter, is learning and aligning its focus! It was an honor to meet Mr. Stuart Katz of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – Israel as we work together to strengthen mental health support in Tanzania.

MHT, in partnership with MHFA–Israel under Mr. Katz’s leadership, held our first partners’ meeting on 23 December 2025 at the Hyatt Regency — marking the start of joint planning for the 2026 “Mental Health Awareness and Psychological First Aid on Su***de and Trauma” initiative in all groups.
