Basic Surgical Skills Course – 15–16 November
The two-day Basic Surgical Skills Course, held from 15–16 November, concluded with exceptional engagement, enthusiasm, and clear skill advancement among all participants. The highly interactive training brought together 28 committed participants and 9 expert facilitators, united in strengthening essential surgical competencies.
The program delivered a powerful blend of dynamic theoretical sessions and intensive hands-on training. Mornings featured thought-provoking discussions, case-based learning, and fundamental surgical principles, while afternoons transitioned into high-energy practical stations guided by experienced trainers.
Participants gained comprehensive exposure to theatre etiquette, principles of sterility, and safe operative practices. They further enhanced their skills through essential techniques, including:
Precision suturing and bowel anastomosis
Tube thoracostomy
Splinting, casting, and external fixation
Airway management
Central line placement
And other high-value surgical procedures
One of the most impactful components of the course was the opportunity to practice on live tissue, offering a realistic learning environment that significantly elevated confidence and competence.
