Our beekeepers have camps in the middle of the woods where they often stay for months at a time while harvesting honey. After a day of collecting honey, they huddle around the fire for tea.

The Amber variety has a full and fruity flavor. When the rains start in October and November the Malagarasi river picks up stream and the first forest flowers of the season begin to bloom. When this honey is harvested in December and January, the river is in full flow. Our beekeepers use push bikes to navigate the forest paths to harvest this wild honey.

Raw honey contains nutrients that pasteurized honey does not. In the pasteurization process, honey is heated to increase its shelf-life and remove yeast cells, but often kills many of its natural nutrients. Our honey is raw and comes straight from the forest, 100% Pure Joy!

A recent study published by the University of Colorado Boulder found that when women are involved in land management, the environment benefits. The study consisted of forest users in Tanzania, Peru and Indonesia split into two groups–one with a gender quota of 50% women and one with no gender quota. The study revealed that groups with a 50% female quota made better decisions for protecting the forest.

When more women are involved in group decisions about land management, the group conserves more - particularly when offered financial incentives to do so, according to a new study.

Beekeepers smoke the beehive to protect themselves from bees while they harvest honey. The smoke temporarily hinders bees senses, which prompts them to evacuate the hive, and allows the beekeeper to collect the honey without harming the bees.
