💕🫀HEART CENTRED PRACTICE 🫀💕
✨ At UZIMA Space, we ground our work in practices that bring balance to body, mind, and spirit. ✨
This month, our focus is the Anahata – the Heart Chakra 💚, the center of love, compassion, and connection. When the heart is open, we are able to give and receive freely, building the kind of supportive community we cherish at UZIMA.
Our classes and circles are designed not just for movement, but for cultivating presence, openness, and healing from the heart. 🌸

🪷 INSPIRED BY THE YAMAS 🧘🏻‍♀️
Did you know that Uzima Space has a little sister? 🌿
Meet UZI•MA Textile ()— a slow-fashion project born from the same values that guide our yoga practice.
Just as Asteya teaches us not to take more than what is freely given, we honor the earth, the makers, and the natural rhythm of a creative practice. Each piece is designed here and inspired by Zanzibar, dyed with care with locally sourced plants, crafted with respect in collaboration with local artisans, and infused with the spirit of abundance rather than excess.
For us, yoga doesn’t stop on the mat — it weaves into the threads we wear and the choices we make every day. 💙
Come and visit our Open Day workshop on Saturday 27th September!
📸 Beautiful shots by our dear sister
Swipe through to see the beginnings of this journey, and stay tuned as UZI•MA Textile unfolds alongside our community.

✨ Lunar Eclipse Circle ✨
This Sunday the skies invite us into a portal of reflection. Eclipses often bring endings, beginnings, and sudden clarity — guiding us to release what no longer serves and step into alignment with what is calling.

🌖In our Women’s Circle with Giulia, we’ll explore astrology as a compass for these epic times — learning how cosmic cycles mirror our inner world. Come ready to sit in community, reflect, and realign under the power of the eclipse.🌒

🌱 Asteya | Non-Stealing
In yogic philosophy, Asteya reminds us that abundance flows when we let go of taking what is not freely given. This isn’t just about material things — it’s also about respecting time, energy, and ideas, in ourselves and others.

✨ Ways to practice Asteya in daily life:

Give credit generously

Honor your own time by keeping commitments

Release comparison and trust in your unique path

Share resources with openness, not scarcity

Asteya invites us into a mindset of sufficiency: knowing we already are, and have, enough.

😴 BREATHING FOR SLEEP
Technique: 4-7-8 Breath 🌙✨
✨ How to practice:
• Inhale gently through the nose for 4 counts.
• Hold the breath softly for 7 counts.
• Exhale slowly through the mouth for 8 counts.
• Repeat up to 4 cycles while lying in bed.
💫 Why it works:
This breath activates the parasympathetic nervous system, slowing the heart rate and calming the mind. It helps release tension, reduce anxiety, and ease you into deep, restorative rest.
⚠️ Precautions:
If you feel lightheaded, shorten the counts until the practice feels comfortable. Always keep the breath soft and natural.
💡 Tip: Try placing one hand on your belly and one on your heart while breathing to feel more grounded and connected.

🌙 YOGA FOR SLEEP
Pose: Supta Dandasana — also known as Waterfall or Legs Up the Wall 🪷
✨ How to practice:
• Extend your legs up toward the ceiling, keeping your back relaxed and knees soft.
• Rest your arms by your sides with palms up, or place your hands on your belly/chest — whatever feels most natural.
• Close your eyes and breathe deeply.
• Stay here for as long as it feels comfortable.
💫 Why it works:
Before sleep, we want the nervous system in a parasympathetic (rest & digest) state. This gentle inversion helps reverse blood flow, encourages lymphatic drainage, and supports the body’s natural detox process — leaving you relaxed and ready for a peaceful night’s rest.
⚠️ Precautions:
Avoid if you have high blood pressure, or injuries to the neck, back, or lower limbs. Always listen to your body.
💡 Tip: Rest your legs against a wall for extra support and ease.

Our Story

Yoga Stone Town is located in the heart of Zanzibar - an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania mainland. Our studio is the first of its kind on the island, and we encourage it as a space that is welcoming to everyone. Our classes are suitable for all levels of yogis, even if you have never tried yoga before. With both local & international teachers guiding the way, you will learn to love the practice or will embrace new challenges and growth on the mat with us.

We offer Ashtanga, Hatha, Yin & Power Yoga classes
