Today, one of the special case child has visited our office after surgery for removing cystic mass at the back of her head.

The mother shows her appreciation to UHIC staff for their attentive service since we first met in October 2018. The baby needs to visit health facility some more weeks until the wound heals, but we are so happy to see that the surgery was successful!!

UHIC is supporting poor households with children in special needs. We support the transportation for their visit to health facilities. Also, our doctors and nurses attend the hospital together with parents to help them go through complicated process in order to make sure the children get proper treatment.

Thanks to Scot foundation, Ms. Hawa, one of our Keepers(community health workers for children) attended a educational workshop on WASH teaching methods for children. Our 14 Keepers are gathered on 31st May, 2019, to learn from Ms.Hawa how to use sports games for teaching children on environment protection, health and sanitation. 🙂 It was so fun playing games 💃⚽️🥅🏃🏿‍♂️⛹🏾‍♀️while we think about how to protect trees🌳🌿, why we need to have balanced diet and healthy habits to maintain our immune system🏋🏾‍♀️🏋🏽‍♂️.

Our Keepers are planning to practice the activity in their own villages, we hope the children enjoy the games as much as we did!

Last week, we visited Kwamnyefu and Mikocheni for meeting village leaders and the stakeholders. We had a discussion about the current situation and needs of the village and future plan.

We appreciate them for sparing time to let us know their village’s environment and needs.

And........after the meeting, our Keepr Halima welcomed us with delicious oranges😍 they were the best oranges ever!

Our nurse Florence is in charge of UHIC’s medicine support to three U-centers🧚🏾‍♀️. Parents and health workers welcomed with big smile when they saw Florence bringing children’s medicine boxes. We were also happy 😃 to see their smiling face!

1. Before delivering medicine to health facilities, we visit Tanga city officials in charge of medicine and h/f to report.

2. bring medicine to U-centers.

3. Arrange medicine on the shelves

4. Now the storage is filled with medicines for children!

UHIC restarted our support to U-centers this March. We’re supporting medicines for children under 5 years old at at Pongwe health center, Mikanjuni health center and Mafuriko dispensary.
