Medicinal plants (Latin Plantae medicinalis) are wild and cultivated plants used for the prevention and treatment of human and animal diseases. The system of treatment with medicinal plants is called phytotherapy
The possibility of using plants for medicinal purposes depends on the type of medicine in which they are used (official or folk). For example, only those medicinal plants that are included in the State Register of Medicinal Products can be used in the Russian health care system.
