Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine “Bukovinian State Medical University” (BSMU) is one of the largest higher educational establishments in Chernivtsi. It is a fully government multistructural educational institution of the highest level of accreditation providing educational programmes of different levels. The University includes the Nursing College of BSMU, Chernivtsi, Vashkivtsi,
Novoselytsia and Kovel Medical Colleges, four medical faculties, dentistry and pharmaceutical faculties, the department of post-graduate education and preparatory department for foreign students. Educational process at the University is ensured by a powerful teaching staff of more than 500 tutors — academicians, professors, assistant professors, senior lecturers, and lectures. Today about 4,500 students study at the University, including more than 1200 foreigners. Every year BSMU trains over 600 interns on 25 specialties and gives the possibility to improve the level of professional skills for more than 2,200 physicians and pharmacists. The University occupies a prominent position in European educational space as a member of the International Association of Universities, the World Health Organization, the Association of the Carpathian region Universities (ACRU), and European Association of Universities (Magna Charta Universitatum). International activity of the University consists in organizing and holding international conferences, promoting participation of the University students, teachers, and young scientists in scientific conferences and forums abroad, extending scientific and educational collaboration of the University and signing the contacts on cooperation. Nowadays BSMU signed agreements of cooperation with 49 foreign establishments. With seven faculties, a number of hospitals and research centres, the University draws attention of young people willing to study medicine and acquire professional medical skills.
