We are delighted to announce the International Postgraduate Conference on Psychoanalytically Informed Trainings, organised by the University of Exeter’s Doctorate of Psychodynamic & Psychoanalytic Clinical Practice programme entitled “Innovation, Inclusion and Integrity” which will take place online on Saturday 26 September 2026, GMT daytime.
 
We warmly invite speakers to participate.
Adult psychoanalytically informed trainings are increasingly being challenged to innovate and adapt in order to remain accessible and resilient amid global disruptions such as pandemics and wars, and socio-cultural changes. While scientific and technological advancements have opened up new possibilities, they have also introduced significant challenges to a model of training historically grounded in stable and traditionally rigid frameworks.
 
Today’s global context is marked by volatility, insecurity, and contradictions—more interconnected yet increasingly fragmented, with shifting financial and geopolitical boundaries. As accessibility is constantly challenged, individuals who may have not been able to train in the past, have the right for provisions that are genuinely inclusive and not only performative. In this complex landscape, it is more urgent than ever to ask: What unconventional challenges do contemporary training institutions and trainees face, and how can training models evolve to meet them? This conference seeks to explore how such challenges can be met—not only with practical solutions but also with openness to the ways they might enrich the training process itself.
We invite speakers to reflect on their experiences as trainees or training providers, both in terms of the logistical adaptations required and the reflective practices that have emerged in response. Together, we aim to consider how flexibility, creativity, and critical engagement can help shape the future of psychoanalytic education.
 
We invite you to submit your abstracts by scanning the QR code.

Short brief report about Psychoanalysis and Complex Trauma Conference in The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

2 days discussions about complex trauma and our own experiences like a psychotherapist and like a human!

Thank you all people who organized the conference!

Specially thank you the speakers of the conference:

Dr.Majdeih Moin and Dr.Bentolhoda Mousavi whose talked about experience of organizing psychological help and support during the war (so interesting to hear some similar and some different perspectives).

Dr. Theodoros Tsirigotis who presented working with children refugees (so difficult but so important topic).

Dr. Zeynep Yasar who discussed about working and challenging in working with refugees. So similar with working with IDP (internal displaced person), specifically when we talked about difficultés and issues.

Dr. Alexandra Lemma how fantastic discussed about cosmetic surgery and hearted of the body.

Dr. Eduardo Perez who’s illustrated the grief and collective loss, which, unfortunately so resonate with our Ukrainian collective trauma.

Dr. Panos Vythoulkas and Kristiana Heapy and their presentation “Interdisciplinary Intervention Framework for Perinatal Complex Trauma”

Сьогодні хочу трохи сказати про завершення терапії з ініціативи терапевта!

Важка тема для пацієнтів та для самих терапевтів також. Думаю, колегам може відгукуватись, останнім часом в соціальних мережах багато переживань та емоцій пацієнтів з цього приводу, тож хочу трошки прояснити основні аспекти.

Чому терапевт відмовляє в терапії? Дивіться в Reals!

Так, терапевт це теж людина і так, це його робота, але і терапевт повинен виконувати свою роботу якісно, якщо це неможливо з певних причин, терапевт має право зупинити її.

Сьогодні говоримо про дуже важливу та актуальну тему : «почуття тривоги під час обстріляв».

Що це за тривога? Що робити? Та чому важливо сепарувати цю тривожність від перманентної (тієї, що не має причини і мігрує з однієї теми в іншу).

Давайте розбиратись разом!

«Я не знаю», - те, що часто чує пацієнт від терапевта на пряме запитання.

«Що мені робити?»

«Чи правильне це рішення?»

«Може мені потрібно розлучитись?»

На всі ці «прямі» але такі важливі та інколи дуже болісні запитання пацієнт чує «Я не знаю» від терапевта і це може викликати дуже багато емоцій: спочатку нерозуміння, начебто пазл не складається, потім тривогу, обурення, злість, як так може бути. Навіть, якщо пацієнт давно в терапії і знаю, що терапевт ніколи не дає відповідей та рекомендації, що робити, емоційно людина хоче відповіді та змін і потрапляє в стан, де тепер двоє чогось не знають разом !

І саме це є дуже терапевтичним! Адже коли терапевт (людина, яка знаходиться, в позиції авторитета) може чогось не знати і спокійно говорить про це пацієнту, то в останній може дати простір для думки , що і він може чогось не знати тут і зараз, і це нормально!

Ми не ідеальні і не маємо «правильної формули» і саме в цій неідеальності проходить терапія. #психотерапія #психологія #психотерапевт

Today was the final set-group session in this academic year and officially Year 1 my doctoral program have finished ✅

On the one hand, it’s so difficult to believe how quickly running the time of the course but on the other hand it was so intensive, sometimes exhausting ,but enjoyable!

It was really interesting experience in my life and it will continue …) a lot of new meetings, new colleagues perspectives and changes in my life. Even my work had changed after I started this program as a result that I combined academic and clinical work)

Congratulations for my colleagues and for me 🎉 we have done it))
