Tammy Golden 2020 came and went, with ministers and civil servants saying they wanted to end peat use once and for all.

Given ongoing delays, the government’s own advisers, the UK Climate Change Committee, recommended ending peat sales to the public by 2023.

While we need peat to help restore nature and store carbon, we don’t need it to grow produce and garden successfully.

In 2024 we're still waiting for the government to back up its many pledges, and to make up for the constant missed targets, by passing the legislation needed to end all peat sales once and for all.
