📣An estimated 11 million girls had to abandon school due to the pandemic.📣
WFP's school-based programmes are an incentive for parents to send girls back to school and keep them there for longer. 👧🏫📓
Kubra is a 11-year old girl from Cox's Bazar, , and is one of the 'Little Doctors' in her school. Kubra said her enrolment as a Little Doctor inspired her to become a true doctor in the future. 👩⚕️🩺🏥
⬇️But who are Little Doctors?!⬇️
Little Doctors are primary school students who are nominated to receive training on issues related to health and hygiene as well as on how to conduct basic health check-ups like measuring heigh, weight, and vision. They participate in school health campaigns and encourage their friends to lead healthy lifestyles. ✨💚
As schools reopened in Bangladesh in September 2021 after more than a year and a half of closure, Little Doctors took on new responsibilities, helping in the safe reopening of their schools by checking everyone’s temperature, making sure that students wash their hands, wear a mask and disinfect their shoes.
The Little Doctors programme helps inspire children, including young girls, to pursue medicine and other scientific disciplines. 💪💙
