Butterbur infusion is known as an anti-allergic agent that successfully replaces suprastin and tavegil. Poultices from butterbur leaves are used to open and treat abscesses. In addition, fresh or dry butterbur leaves are scalded with boiling water, wrapped in gauze and applied as a hot pad to places of rheumatic and gouty pains.
