🧠 We are back in Neurosurgery in Europe and further CE-related markets!

After years of regulatory hurdles, we have received Class III MDR approval for our first neurosurgical instruments—marking a powerful return to endoscopic neurosurgery and spine surgery.

📅 Product availability: from December 2025 onwards

This milestone is more than a technical achievement; it is a reaffirmation of our ethical responsibility to ensure access to life-saving technologies, especially for vulnerable patients like newborns with hydrocephalus, because we want to improve patients’ lives around the world.

Next steps? Additional product submissions are already underway, with the next Class III approval expected at the beginning of 2026. Our goal: full portfolio availability worldwide.

🤖 Штучний інтелект у лапароскопії: новий етап розвитку хірургічних технологій

У 2025 році в журналі Frontiers in Surgery опубліковано систематичний огляд, присвячений застосуванню AI-технологій для розпізнавання етапів лапароскопічних операцій та оцінки хірургічних навичок.

🔍 Автори проаналізували наявні наукові публікації, що охоплюють використання відкритих баз відеоданих — Cholec80, M2CAI16, AutoLaparo та JIGSAWS.
Метою огляду було систематизувати підходи до навчання алгоритмів глибокого навчання, здатних автоматично ідентифікувати фази хірургічного втручання та об’єктивно оцінювати дії хірурга у реальному часі.

⚙️ Найвищу ефективність у більшості досліджень продемонстрували гібридні моделі, що поєднують:
– Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) — для аналізу просторово-візуальної інформації;
– Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Temporal Convolutional Networks (TCN) або Transformer-архітектури — для моделювання часових залежностей і послідовності подій.

У деяких дослідженнях, включених до огляду, точність автоматичного розпізнавання фаз лапароскопічної холецистектомії перевищувала 95 %, а в окремих експериментах — сягала 98–99 % на публічних датасетах. Це свідчить про високий потенціал технологій для подальшої валідації та клінічного застосування.

🧩 Сучасні системи AI здатні:
▪️ визначати поточний етап операції;
▪️ прогнозувати наступну фазу;
▪️ розпізнавати інструменти;
▪️ оцінювати стабільність відео та рухи хірурга;
▪️ об’єктивно оцінювати технічну майстерність.

🎓 У медичній освіті такі технології вже використовуються для автоматичного маркування навчальних відео, що допомагає молодим фахівцям вивчати послідовність оперативних дій.
У клінічній практиці такі системи розглядаються як потенційна основа для інтраопераційного контролю якості, хоча наразі більшість рішень перебувають на стадії досліджень, тестування або обмежених пілотних впроваджень.

🔬 AI поступово стає невід’ємним елементом сучасної хірургії, відкриваючи шлях до нових стандартів безпеки, навчання та контролю якості.

– HOPKINS: A Clear View That Set New Standards

With the introduction of the HOPKINS rod lens system in 1965, we redefined what was possible in endoscopy. The innovation was based on a completely new optical concept: Instead of traditional glass lenses, the system used glass rods and small air gaps – a clever design that enabled up to 80 times more light transmission.
