Nutrition and Mor Ltd.
Adequate and nutritious food for life.
Description
From the verandas of a tiny nutrition ward at Hoima regional referral hospital, the idea to make everyday food in extra ways, and more useful to the body gave birth to Nutrition and Mor. In 2017, the needs to drive sustainable growth turned it into a company, which produces and distributes nutritious foods that are made from organic and locally grown raw materials. Some of our brands include cocktail (kitobero) porridge flour, rice flour and pumpkin flour which are available in Hoima supermarkets and on order.

The founder’s story.
Kaziro N Moureen was motivated to start a business in nutrition enhancement to improve her welfare, following morbid experiences from a grueling and abusive relationship. During that time; she felt lost and suffered from silent anxiety disorders, with severe conditions of undernourishment and frequently being sick, and was in a poor financial state. This led her to identify and speak to young women with similar situations.
From these interactions there was realization that these women’s economic situation was poor and that they also had malnourished children. There she found an opportunity to improve the welfare of the children whilst providing income to the girls and young women.
She believes that her story is like for so many young women in Uganda
About the founder
The founder works in rural Uganda. She is a passionate lover of food and a good cook, with obsessions in nutrient preservation. The fonder also, finds fun in writing on her Facebook `timeline about anything.
Why we care
84% of Ugandans live in rural areas with 67% of the population living in poverty. Poverty leads to malnutrition through the following inevitable…. Low food intakes, increase in infection frequencies, hard physical labors, frequent pregnancies and large families which is a viscous cycle.
A number of children admitted into rural pediatric wards are underweight or stunted and others have gross malnutrition forms (SAM). Malnourished children required more healthcare services and their types of care are expensive and time consuming
Infants born with low birth weight(less than 2.5kilogrammes) are a reflection in part, that there was malnutrition in the womb.
Most maternal-child morbidity and mortality have causes traceable back to poor feeding or malnutrition.
Severe iron deficiency anemia causes deaths in pregnancy and childbirth of so many young women yearly, a witness that some women have to get transfusion during the birth process at hospital.
In most rural homesteads women are the bread winner with unstable income sources. We want to empower them by giving them a decent employment.
We want to be a part of sustainable growth that enhances value for our consumers, customers, distributors, suppliers and the communities we work. We imagine a world where everyone has access to sufficient and nutritious food all round.
