MULTI STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENTS.

Today, we continue to engage with different stakeholders in Mugoye Sub county , Kalangala island district including political leaders, duty bearers , religious and cultural leaders, Human rights defenders and other decision makers on their roles in ensuring young people can fully enjoy their SRHR without facing any hindrances.
Many recommendations have been gathered and pledges to take these into practice is upon every stakeholder.
All with support from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY FIRE CAMP IN KALANGALA.

Yesterday, we celebrated the international Youth Day with a theme ; Creating an enabling environment for non discriminatory SRHR Policies for young people , a role for all of us…….
This aimed at providing a platform for minoritized youth in the far end islands to share lived experiences, share knowledge about their SRHR and also additionally advocate for improved SRHR policies that favor them.

Through our community drives and engagements, we have championed efforts to increase up take of SRHR services and improve on information sharing among youth in the islands of Kalangala in L. Victoria Uganda. We have selected to trained champions for deliver such crucial information through a peer to peer model and this is has proved to be extra effective .
Earlier today , we engaged and had a follow up meeting with youth in Mugoye sucounty , Kalangala to ascertain the level of progress , availability and acceptability of uptake of such services .
We engaged youth including teenage mothers , commercial s*x workers , youth with disabilities , those living with HIV and others with different compounded vulnerabilities .

Today , we engaged key stakeholders in Mugoye Sub County through a follow-up meeting / session. In the last quarter of 2024, we had a dialogue with these stakeholders and the many youth with compounded vulnerabilities discussing the different SRHR needs for the youth , the impact on lives caused by lack of such services for the youth and what was actually meant to be done .
Recommendations had been drawn to ensure such gaps are closed and this follow up meeting was aimed to share the level of progress on the earlier set plans and recommendations.
We engage health workers at sub county level , politicians , duty bearers and representatives of the youth .
All supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

SUPER WEDNESDAY

Today, together with partners Katalemwa Cheshire Home and , we conducted a youth dialogue for marginalized youth in the islands of kalangala in L.Victoria , Uganda. The dialogue included youth with disabilities , young commercial s*x workers and other youth with compounded vulnerabilities at Kasekulo Landing site , rural Kalangala.
We are gathering facts about their acceptance , level of readiness and level of availability of adeqaute , gender sensitive and age appropriate Sexual Reproductive Health Services and Information at the local setting .
All under the auspices of the Make Way Program .
