A glimpse into my journey—9 years of midwifery, advocacy, and finding my voice beyond the labor ward.

When I first became a midwife, I thought the biggest part of my job would be catching babies. I imagined my purpose lived inside the labor ward—watching life begin, one breath at a time.

But over the last 9 years, I’ve learned that being a midwife goes far beyond the bedside.

Sometimes, we are the only voice women and newborns have.
And that voice has to be bold, informed, and relentless.

I’ve found myself on stages, behind microphones, in boardrooms and community halls, speaking up for maternal health—calling out the gaps, challenging the silence, advocating for respectful care, and standing in for the women who couldn’t.

I’ve led campaigns, mobilized resources, partnered with media, and mentored young midwives because I’ve come to understand this:
In resource-limited settings like ours, silence costs life😢

And the more I speak, the more I realize that advocacy is part of the care.
Midwives don’t just deliver babies. We deliver systems. We deliver hope. We deliver change.

If you’re a midwife reading this, please know:
Your voice matters. Your leadership matters.
You can be a caregiver and a changemaker.

If there’s one thing I highly recommend to fellow career women—it’s contraception.

Being able to pursue your dreams while staying sexually active without the fear of unplanned pregnancy is a smart and empowering choice👌

There are many family planning options raging from natural, artificial, short-term, and long-term.
Choose what works for you, and stay in control of your sexual, reproductive, and productive life💃

Every platform counts when it comes to amplifying maternal health issues

Whether it’s a TV studio, a health center, a classroom, or even a quiet conversation under a tree—what we say, where we say it, and who we reach can save lives.

We’re not there yet, but every conversation brings us closer to a future where no woman dies giving life😢
Media is not just for news—it’s a tool for change, for advocacy, for awareness.

Grateful for platforms like NTV and Spark TV for opening up space to discuss preeclampsia and maternal health loudly.
Let’s keep going. Let’s keep speaking. Every mother matters.

Earlier today, i visited NTV and Spark TV to unpack a condition that continues to silently take the lives of our mothers and babies,
Preeclampsia (high blood pressure in pregnancy ) one of the leading causes of maternal deaths in Uganda and globally yet it is preventable or managed if caught early.

One thing I really emphasized was the importance of starting antenatal care early and attending all the visits.
Simple body checks like blood pressure and weight monitoring can help detect danger signs before it’s too late.

I encouraged all pregnant women to :
1. seek care early
2. Never to ignore the signs.
3. Closely monitor Pregnancy from start
to finish.
4. And never to imagine that preeclampsia is witchcraft because it isnt .

And to all Midwives and Gynaecologists out there , always remember that every pregnant woman who walks through our doors comes with hope and a silent prayer to return home safely. As we continue the fight against Preeclampsia , let’s remember the power we hold to change outcomes.
Let’s be present.
Let’s listen deeply.
Let’s offer every bit of our knowledge, skill, and compassion, we should save their lives at all costs .

Together, we can rewrite the story of maternal health in Uganda.
