LEM – Mindfulness is a young and dynamic social enterprise that exhibits Integrity, Love, Empathy and mindfulness as integral parts of its cultural tenets. LEM - Mindfulness was founded in 2019 by Mr. Martin Bakundana a senior Lecturer at Makerere University. His experience teaching students at institutions of higher education rewarded him with stress fruitions. Students’ mental health has often tested positive following traumatic s*x for marks experiences, examination and tuition stress among other mental health disorders. Globally, mental health disorders are on the rise. New estimates by SIDA and Nalugya show that 21% of students that graduate from secondary schools carry their mental health issues to Universities But LEM – Mindfulness exists to overturn this huge percentage by implementing its overly rich counselling package for university students and other beneficiaries.
LEM-Mindfulness seeks to create awareness and offer guidance and counseling to those living with and affected by mental challenges through online, 1 on 1 and group counseling, conducting mental health awareness clinics in institutions of higher learning, offering specialized psychotherapy tools and financial support. We currently have a strong, talented, passionate and experienced team working to offer professional support to individuals and communities living and affected by mental health challenges with a very interactive website and other supportive programs.
Amid collective efforts from the government, strategic partners, affected people and all stakeholders, we will transform individuals, communities and groups faced with challenges of mental health and support them to overcome this life-threatening situation.
