Did you know that the way you sit on the toilet can affect how easily your body eliminates waste?

In the natural toilet position, the body squats, which straightens the rectoanal angle and relaxes the puborectalis muscle. This allows for a smoother, faster, and more complete bowel movement — reducing the risk of constipation, hemorrhoids, and other digestive issues.

In contrast, the Western-style toilet keeps the rectoanal angle more kinked, as the puborectalis muscle remains partially contracted. This can make elimination more difficult and strain the lower bowel over time.

Tip: If you use a Western-style toilet, placing a small stool under your feet (like a “squatty potty”) can help mimic the natural squatting posture and improve bowel health.
