BRUXISM (teeth grinding)
It can happen when u grind unconsciously (awake bruxism) or during sleep (sleep bruxism).
Ppo with sleep bruxism r more likely to have other sleep disorders like snoring,pauses in breathing.

Although causes aren't really known, several factors maybe involved;
✨ Stressful situations
✨Age, common in young children but may go off in adulthood
✨ Personality, common with aggressive, competitive and hyperactives
✨ Medications, psychiatric like antidepressants, smoking to***co, drinking caffeinated beverages
✨ Genetics(family history)
✨ Mental disorders; parkinsonism, dementia,GERD, epilepsy, night terrors

Signs and symptoms
✨ Teeth clenching which may be loud enough to wake up your partner
✨ Flattened, fractured ND chipped teeth
✨Worn tooth enamel exposing deeper layers of the tooth
✨ Increased tooth sensitivity ND pain with no obvious cavities
✨Jaw, neck ND face pain
✨Pain that feels like earache though with no ear problems
✨Dull headaches

APPROACHES
✨ Splints and mouth guards as shown to avoid damage on teeth can be acquired.
✨ Dental corrections to reshape chewing surfaces of the teeth like crowns.
✨ Managing stress; promoting relaxations, counseling
✨ Medications that may bring it should be regulated.
✨ Consultation to a dentist

WHY SOME TEETH ARE WHITER THAN OTHERS (White vs brown coloured teeth)
Part of this has to do with the thickness of our enamel(outer layer of ur tooth) which is semi-translucent.One may b born with thicker or thinner enamel.
The thicker the enamel,the whiter the teeth,the thinner it is,the more it allows the yellow shade(color) of the dentine layer to shine through.
Broadly: Genetics.on addition;Diet ND habits, hygiene contribute.

FALSE TEETH
These are traditionally known as "ebinnyo,ebiino" etc.Most African parents extract or remove them which is not favorable.
False teeth are itching toothbuds which come with diarrhoea,fever and other signs due to tampering those itchy parts.
Signs and symptoms should be managed instead.False teeth if removed,disrupt the natural teeth of the baby,both milk and permanents.So parents should be vigilant.

Natal and Neonatal teeth;
When a baby is born with teeth visible in the mouth,they are termed as natal teeth.
Neonatal teeth come shortly after birth (mostly about a month after).
Get advice from a dentist on what to do.Otherwise removal may not be necessary with out consultation.

THUMB SUCKING
It is a habit that can affect the development of the teeth,jaw ND palate.
It helps babies ND toddlers to fall asleep ND self soothe themselves but if it persists past the toddler stage,it brings bad consequences like;
✨ Malocclusions e.g over bites where upper front teeth protrude from the jaw ND mouth
✨Bite issues e.g open bites where upper ND lower teeth do not touch when the mouth is closed.
✨ Change in the shape of the jaw wc can impact teeth alignment ND affect speech patterns

It can be discouraged by;
✨ Addressing and correcting the cause of anxiety forcing ur child to thumb suck
✨ Praising ur child for not thumb sucking at the time they are not.
✨ Enlist the help of a dentist if the above r unsuccessful.
