What you need to know about Marburg virus disease (formerly known as Marburg haemorrhagic fever).

The Marburg virus is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected persons. Transmission of the Marburg virus also occurred by handling ill or dead infected wild animals (monkeys, fruit bats). The predominant treatment is general supportive therapy.

It is important to check your breasts at the same time each month. If you have your periods, you should check 2-3 days after they end. If you are in menopause, choose a regular day for a breast self examination. If you notice a change in your breasts, have them checked by your doctor.

Breast self examination is NOT a substitute for regular examinations by your doctor & regular screening​ mammograms.
