Today marks , and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing.

Nightingale rose to national prominence during the Crimean War (1854-1856), where she led a team of nurses that improved the sanitary conditions of the British military hospital in Scutari. A gifted statistician, she demonstrated through data collection and analysis how effective hygiene measures had a major effect in reducing the death toll of injured soldiers.

Returning home a hero, she spent the rest of her life driving reforms in nursing and hospital design, writing books, and corresponding on public health, theology and politics. The principles and practices she established remain the foundation of modern nursing globally to this day.

The seven temporary hospitals that were recently set up across England to respond to the coronavirus pandemic were named in her honour.

Corona virus is a pathogen just like other pathogens that we all know about e.g HIV, Hepitatis B&C. It doesn't kills but, illness created by existence of the pathogen in the blood streams or other pre-existing illness for example ischemic respiratory disease or any respiratory infection is the one Killing people. So, don't panic! Take care of yourself from other illness that may weaken your immune systems and make it vulnerable to any pathogen like Corona virus to intercept and destroy your immunity.

Heart disease is the most common underlying condition, followed by dementia and respiratory illness.

The ongoing spread of the pandemics has also triggered a vast pandemics of ideological viruses that were lying dormant in our societies: fake news, paranoiac conspiracy theories, explosions of racism. The well-grounded medical need for quarantines found an echo in the ideological pressure to establish clear borders and to quarantine enemies which pose a threat to our identity.
