Maternal And Child Health Initiative is non-profit organisation which started in 2011 as a Community Based Organisation to help improve on the maternal and child health issues among the urban poor and rural communities. Its aims to contribute to the improvement of Maternal and Child Health and Reproductive Health among urban poor and rural communities in Uganda through health promotion initiatives
and capacity building, strengthening the capacity of service providers and partner organisation’s through training, research and provision of technical materials to provide quality MCH services for different partners. Our vision: Healthy mothers and children for community development
Our mission: To enhance the capacities of communities to address maternal and child health needs and promote development programmes for poverty alleviation. MACHI employs a multi-pronged strategy including health education/ sensitization of targeted populations, behavioural change communication, capacity building training in SRHR packages and economic skills building/empowerment, school health programmes, Male involvement, in recognition that men are the primary decision makers in Ugandan societies, research and adoption of best practices. Strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, nongovernment organizations, community organizations and Ministry of Health are a key strategy.
