Did you know?
Worker bees aged 12 to 18 days are natureโs wax makers. They secrete clear wax flakes from special glands on their abdomen, then chew and shape it into the honeycomb we all know and love.
But over time, combs darken as they are used for brood rearing, filled with cocoons, pollen and propolis. That old, dark comb does not just look rough. It can store pesticides and diseases, and its thickened walls are not ideal for raising healthy bees.
Tip from Malaika Honey:
To keep your hive thriving, remove old combs every 2 to 3 years. Fresh wax means a cleaner, safer space for your bees to grow and store honey.
