What is Sudan Ebola Virus?
Sudan Ebola Virus (SUDV) is a rare but severe disease caused by the Ebola virus. It spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids of infected persons, contaminated objects, or infected animals. Unlike some other Ebola strains, there is no licensed vaccine for SUDV, making early detection and prevention critical.
Signs & Symptoms
Symptoms appear 2 to 21 days after exposure and include:
✔ Fever
✔ Severe headache
✔ Muscle and joint pain
✔ Fatigue and weakness
✔ Vomiting and diarrhea
✔ Abdominal pain
✔ Unexplained bleeding or bruising
How is it Transmitted?
Direct contact with an infected person’s blood, saliva, urine, f***s, or vomit
Handling contaminated objects (needles, medical equipment)
Contact with infected animals, especially bats or non-human primates
Prevention & Control
✅ Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer
✅ Avoid contact with infected individuals and their bodily fluids
✅ Use protective equipment (gloves, masks) when handling suspected cases
✅ Properly disinfect surfaces and objects in healthcare settings
✅ Avoid consuming bush meat or handling sick animals
✅ Report suspected cases to healthcare authorities immediately
