We summarized the current Ebola outbreak, including the current situation in Lira, where Child Hug Uganda is located, Uganda’s past experiences with Ebola, and some basic information about the disease.

We did our best to provide accurate information based on what was known as of May 20. However, please understand that we cannot take responsibility for any possible inaccuracies or future changes in the situation.

At this time, Uganda has only reported imported cases, and no domestic transmission has been confirmed. However, the number of cases in the DRC continues to increase, so ongoing vigilance remains important.

Thank you for reading and for staying informed.

At B**g Health Center, we talked with mothers and pregnant women about mastitis🤱

Mastitis is often caused by blocked breast milk flow or bacterial infection during breastfeeding.

During the session, we shared ways to prevent mastitis and how to manage early symptoms, including simple care methods using cold water and warm towels.

We hope this knowledge will help reduce breastfeeding difficulties and support healthier, more comfortable motherhood for many women.💕

📈 Uganda is growing… fast.

Every year, more babies are born, more young people enter society, and the future becomes bigger than ever. 🇺🇬

But behind this growth is a hard reality we cannot ignore…

⚠️ Schools are becoming overcrowded
⚠️ Hospitals are under pressure
⚠️ Too many young people have no jobs
⚠️ Families are struggling to afford housing
⚠️ Cities are getting more crowded every day
⚠️ Poverty is still affecting many lives

This is not just “population growth”…
It is a race between people being born and opportunities being created.

With good planning, investment, and opportunities for young people, Uganda’s future can be even brighter. 🌍✨

📊 Monthly Report – April

A total of 291 patients visited our clinic this month 🏥
Due to the rainy season, malaria cases have increased and remained the most common condition 🦟
(For malaria prevention methods, please check our previous post.)

This month, we also conducted sickle cell screening tests for 53 patients. As a result, sickle cell trait became the 4th most common diagnosis after malaria, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), and urinary tract infections (UTI)🩸

Other commonly observed conditions included skin infections, dermatitis, cellulitis, and sepsis🦠

Our clinic will continue striving to provide accessible and compassionate care for the community 🌿

Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers working in the medical field across Uganda conducted a training session on vital sign measurement and basic life support at a nursing school in Lira, Northern Uganda.

Volunteers from CHU also participated as instructors.

We will continue to contribute to providing high-quality education for nursing students.

🚨 MALARIA PREVENTION IN ACTION 🚨

Malaria is still a serious concern in our community - and protection starts right here in our clinic.

🛏️ In our clinic, patients are protected with mosquito nets over their beds. This helps prevent mosquito bites and protects them from further infection while they recover.

📸 The treatment room you see here stands for one important message: seek medical care early.
Early diagnosis and proper treatment can save lives and prevent complications.

But prevention goes beyond the bedside:
🗑️ Trash around the clinic can collect rainwater and attract mosquitoes
💧 Our handwashing area can become standing water if not properly managed

We recognize these challenges and are working to improve - because a safe environment is part of good healthcare.

What we can all do:
🦟 Sleep under mosquito nets
💧 Remove standing water
🗑️ Keep surroundings clean
🏥 Seek medical care early

🌍 Protect yourself and your community - prevention starts with all of us.

We conducted a health education session at a health center for women in late pregnancy and mothers with newborn babies🤰👩‍🍼

This time, we focused on common postpartum discomforts and how to manage them.

We wish for the health and well-being of all mothers and their babies🫶
