*HEAT STRESS AFFECTS EGG SHELL QUALITY*

The egg shell is composed of 2 layers ie the soft layer made of soft crystals of Calcium carbonate and the hard outer layer made of hard calcite crystals ( calcium carbonate)

It's well known that calcium comes from feed and other calcium stores like the inside of the bone. However, the carbonate added onto the calcium comes from blood and the shell gland.

During hot weather, birds pant to cool their bodies. In the process of panting, they loose both energy and carbondioxide. Increased Panting leads to increased loss of cerbondioxide. This leads to low levels of carbonate ions available for shell formation.

Therefore, it's very necessary to deal with heat stress in order to keep the birds healthy and productive.
Vitamins, minerals, Amino acids and electrolytes can help in this case.

Note: chose a product that has zinc in it....!
Zinc is a coenzyme of carbonic anhydraze that converts carbondioxide and water into carbonate ions.....which is then deposited together with calcium as calcium carbonate.
