Today, I had the privilege of joining the incredible community of Gulu City for the 3rd edition of the Gulu Menstrual Hygiene Run an initiative spearheaded by Her Worth Foundation in partnership with Bulamu Bridge AI LLC. The ran focused on preserving the dignity of the girl child. πββοΈπ©Έ
According to 2024 AMREF-Africa studies, 28% of girls in Uganda miss school due to menstrual-related challengesβranging from lack of sanitary products to inadequate facilities and persistent stigma. Many schools still lack clean, private washrooms and proper disposal systems, making menstruation a monthly obstacle to education and self-confidence.
But today, we ran to change that.
We ran to break the silence, to challenge the stigma, and to show solidarity with girls who deserve dignity, safety, and opportunityβevery day of the month.
Big kudos to over 10,000 participants and different organizations for their tireless work in community sensitization and mindset change. Grateful to have been part of this powerful movement. Together, we can and create a future where is more than a hashtag.
