MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY INITIATIVE (MEHCI) was initiated in 2009 after a careful analysis of the shortcomings and loopeholes existing in Uganda’s mental health system as evidenced by outdated and offensive legislations; lack of trained human resources; poor or no mental health service points especially in the rural communities, and inadequacy of financial resources to facilitate the delivery of appropriate services.
