INTRODUCTION: Parenting a child with special needs can be a unique and challenging experience, often accompanied by feelings of isolation, stress and uncertainty. In response to the growing need for support and connection among these parents, as Angels Center for Children with Special Needs, we intend to establishment of a virtual parents support group that will provide a safe, accessible and inclusive space for parents to share experiences, access information and connect with others who understand their journey.
Who we are
Angel’s Centre for Children with Special Needs (S.5914/12226) and (WCBO/113/12) is a parent-led initiative providing education and therapy services for children and young persons with intellectual disabilities in Wakiso district, Uganda. Angel’s Centre is premised on the principle of creating an enabling environment for children with intellectual disabilities to grow and thrive within their environments. In collaboration with Village Health Teams (VHTs), we conduct regular community visits to follow up with children with special needs and their families. During these visits, we provide ongoing support, guidance, and care to ensure they are accessing the services and resources they need to thrive. This partnership enables us to reach more families, address their unique challenges, and make a positive impact on the lives of these children and their caregivers
