A crucial skill for minimizing emotional reactivity and sustaining mental clarity in your life is the ability to distinguish between your experience and your interpretation of your experience.

🧠 Your experience is simply whatever is happening in the moment: a sound, a taste, a bodily sensation, an emotion, any kind of interaction, etc. Your interpretation is your mind’s reaction to that experience.

Coming back to the present moment helps you feel more grounded and respond with more care. 🌱

🌿 "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩."

There is one person many of us find it difficult to be kind to. Last week, together with around 15 open-hearted people, we explored exactly that.

The seminar "𝘽𝙚 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡 | Бъди добър към себе си" brought together a group of people at what I would call the most interesting chapter of life: one where experience is deep, time is taken more seriously, and the question of how we relate to ourselves matters perhaps more than ever.

We looked at what self-criticism actually does. How it narrows our world, and how a different response, kinder, more patient, more compassionate, opens it again. Through simple conversation and gentle practice, all seated, all manageable, we explored what self-compassion looks and feels like in everyday moments.

What struck me was not what I brought into the room, but what was already there. Warmth, curiosity, awareness. And a kind of grounded resilience that only comes from having lived enough to know that kindness toward yourself is not a luxury. It is a necessity. And it can be cultivated, at any age, in any chapter. 🌱

I left that afternoon gratified and grateful.

A sincere "thank you" to Maria Stoimenova for her coordination and care. To Мулти култи // Multi Kulti for their support and Salted Café Sofia for providing this welcoming space. And of course, to everyone in the room. I learned something from you too. 🙏

🍃 There is always a space between what happens and the story our minds tell about it.

Most of the time, that space goes unnoticed. The interpretation feels like the reality. The story feels like a fact.

Mindfulness opens that space. It creates enough distance to notice and observe the context and the content, and to choose a different, more nuanced approach.

Difficult things happen. Negative mindsets make them harder. 🌱

Dear friends,

This week, we gathered for the third workshop of the "Skills for Better Life" series: "Training the Heart: Relating with Compassion".

We talked about 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 not as a moral ideal or a personality trait but as a universal human capacity we are all wired for. Noticing that someone is struggling, being moved by it, and wanting to help. That is what compassion toward others looks like. It comes naturally to most of us. 🍃

And then, we explored the one direction of compassion most of us tend to overlook: toward ourselves, what we call 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, or 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴.

How we meet our own pain, difficulty, and mistakes. How much kindness we offer to ourselves when we need it most. Because the way we relate to ourselves, touches everything. 🌱

Gratitude and appreciation to Maria Stoimenova, English Language Café , Мулти култи // Multi Kulti, and Salted Café Sofia. Their support created a welcoming space for sharing and reflection. ✨

To all of you who were with us this evening, thank you for the openness and presence you brought. I hope to meet again soon and continue exploring and cultivating inner skills for living a meaningful, fulfilling, and joyful life. 🙏

🌱 “Training the Heart: Relating with Compassion”

We are often kinder to others than we are to ourselves.
When a friend is struggling, we listen. We don't judge. We remind them that it's okay.

But when it's our turn to struggle, when we fall short, feel overwhelmed, or make a mistake, something shifts. The voice inside sounds different. Less kind and less warm...

What if we could change that?

In the third seminar of the "Skills for a Better Life" series, we explore compassion as something we can actually practice - toward others, and toward ourselves. Not only as a concept, but as a real life experience.

What we will explore:
🧠 What compassion really is - and what it isn't.
💟 Why we find it so hard to offer it to ourselves.
🌱 Simple practices to begin relating with more warmth and care.

It would be my pleasure to meet, to connect, and to explore this together. ✨

🍃 We plan, we hold on, we try to keep things steady.

And yet, everything keeps moving.

When we truly understand that everything is in motion, without exception,
we stop treating impermanence as the problem,
and start learning to move with it. 🌱

🌱 Calm, clarity, and compassion are qualities that grow with practice.

Meditation is not about escaping life or fixing yourself.
It is about strengthening inner skills that help you meet life with awareness and balance.

💟 If these benefits matter to you, consider beginning with a few quiet minutes today. Small steps, returned to consistently.

If you are ready to take the next step, choose the mindfulness-based approach that matches your needs and fits your schedule, whether therapy, counseling, or coaching.

Book an online introductory meeting and let’s explore how mindfulness can support your mental health and overall well-being.

🍃 Stress will always be part of life.

What changes everything is how we relate to it.
We can react from habit.Or we can respond with awareness and skillful choice. 🌱

🌟 "𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐫𝐞: 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧"

Dear friends,

Last week, we came together to pause and 𝒑𝙖𝒚 𝒂𝙩𝒕𝙚𝒏𝙩𝒊𝙤𝒏 to a skill that deeply shapes how we perceive and experience our everyday lives: our attention.

We explored how attention works, why it so easily drifts into distraction and autopilot, and how this affects our mental performance, emotional state, and the quality of our relationships. Through simple mindfulness practices, we experienced what it’s like to notice when the mind wanders and to gently return. Not perfectly, not forcefully, but kindly and with intention. 🌱

📌 This seminar opened the "Skills for Better Life" series. The next one, “Riding the Waves: Meeting Stress Skillfully,” takes place Wednesday, 4/3, and continues the exploration of how we meet stress in the body and mind.

It was a real joy to share this evening with such a present and engaged group. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to continuing this journey together at the next seminar. 🙏

💖 PS: I couldn’t help but notice the hearts in the space. A small but fitting symbol for a seminar about attention, and how presence itself can be a “present” for those we care about and for what truly matters in our lives.

Dear friends,

“Skills for Better Life” is a series of three interconnected seminars with the purpose of better knowing ourselves. And through that “knowing”, to support and enhance our wellbeing.

Across the three seminars, we’ll experientially explore the themes of “attention”, “resilience”, and “compassion” as core mental and emotional human capacities that are both universal and learnable. ✨

In each seminar, we explore a simple, yet profound question:
❥ “Am I really present in my life?” (Reclaiming Your Attention)
❥ “Is there a better way to handle stress?” (Meeting Stress Skillfully)
❥ “How can I show up more fully for myself and others?” (Connecting with Empathy & Compassion)

Backed by psychology, neuroscience, and contemplative traditions, these capacities support a more skillful way of navigating life’s challenges and offer a practical “toolbox” for building the life you want. 🌱

If you are in Sofia and feel drawn to pause, reflect, and learn how these skills can be cultivated, you are warmly invited and very welcome. It would be my pleasure to meet, to be, and to connect in this shared experiential journey. 🙏

Warmly,

Vassilis
