David ‘Dave’ Allan Kenzie
David “Dave” Allan Kenzie, 88, of Greenwood, husband of the late Maryleone Bober Kenzie, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 4, 2026. He was at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, with his daughters by his side. He was born in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Bernard Frank Kenzie and Marjorie Hazelton Kenzie.
A 1956 graduate of Leslie High School in Leslie, Michigan, Dave went on to attend Michigan State University and later honorably served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Dave’s career spanned four decades in industrial tooling and metals, retiring as vice president and general manager at Wells Manufacturing. His expertise, integrity, and perseverance left an indelible mark on the company and those fortunate enough to work alongside him.
Dave was a gifted craftsman who paid meticulous attention to detail. He always had a project that was completed to perfection. Whether in his workshop, around the house, or helping others, his skilled hands and patient precision were unmistakable. His shop was often filled with the sound of the radio and his beautiful whistle, a melody his family will forever hear in their hearts.
Golf was one of Dave’s greatest passions and one of the clearest expressions of his craftsmanship. A highly skilled custom golf club maker and owner of Golf It Is, Dave helped countless golfers improve their swing and deepen their love for the game through clubs he carefully built to fit each individual. He especially loved using that talent to give back, generously donating custom clubs to local children who wanted to learn the game he cherished. He was also actively involved in the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals.
His devotion extended well beyond his projects and hobbies. Dave generously shared his craftsmanship with the wider community, lending his talents to Habitat for Humanity and helping stock the church food pantry. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood and a former member of Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick.
Dave’s love was most beautifully evident in the years he devoted to caring for his beloved Mary as she battled dementia. When her needs required nursing care, his devotion never wavered. He fed her dinner each day, repaired her wheelchair so she could rest comfortably, and even brought his craftsmanship into the nursing home through thoughtful projects that brightened the lives of others.
He was welcomed into heaven by Mary, the love of his life and wife of 67 years; along with his sons, David Allan Kenzie Jr. and John Richard Kenzie; his parents; and his siblings, Larry Kenzie, Jack Kenzie, and LuAnn Kenzie Beavers.
He is survived by his children: Jason Kenzie, Lisa (John) Prekosovich, and Susan (Peter Jarrell) Kenzie; four grandchildren: Adrienne (Nick), Lindsay (Joe), Matthew, and Sara; and three great-grandchildren: Rachel, Hannah, and Freddie.
A service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 East Creswell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646, with Pastor Chris Christopher and Pastor Jim Kinsler officiating.
A reception will follow, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and remember a man whose careful hands, generous heart, joyful whistle, and love of golf left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
