In my personal life, I am not a Facebook guy at all. I however think that it has value. Since I have been sitting in the hospital and rehabilitation center for 31 days now with my son who was involved in a catastrophic motor vehicle accident, I have come to realize that there are a few things that every parent should know.

Get a power of attorney for your child. Both financial and medical. When they turn 18, if you don’t have one, it becomes difficult to make decisions if they are incapacitated or cannot think for themselves.

Get enough uninsured and under insured motorist car insurance. The vast majority of people out there have the bare minimal insurance. Get more un/under insured motorist coverage, as this will be so valuable if you unfortunately have to deal with what we have to deal with at this point.

Tell your kids that you love them as frequently as you can. If you think you already told them in the morning but are not positive, tell them 20 more times before they go to sleep.
