Here's what's usually happening:

❌ NOT always a tangled muscle fiber you can "work out" ✅ Immobile tissue that's been stuck in one position too long ✅ Fascia that's dehydrated and adhered ✅ Muscles compensating for weakness somewhere else

This right here is one of my FAVORITE techniques 👀

Working with the scapula (shoulder blade) is a game-changer for so many people — especially if you deal with neck pain, upper-back tension, shoulder tightness, or that deep ache between your shoulder blades.

What most people don’t realize is that the shoulder blade is like a hub for movement and tension. So many muscles attach here — including muscles that run into the neck, down the back, across the ribs, and even into the arm. When the scapula doesn’t move well, everything around it has to compensate… and that’s when pain and tightness start showing up.

By gently mobilizing and working under and around the shoulder blade, we can:
✔️ Improve shoulder and upper-back mobility
✔️ Reduce neck and trap tension
✔️ Help release stubborn knots between the shoulder blades
✔️ Support better posture and movement patterns
✔️ Create longer-lasting relief (not just quick fixes)

This kind of focused, intentional work is one of those “small area, big impact” techniques — and it’s often what helps people finally feel change in areas that never fully respond to basic massage alone.

🆘 Self-care to the Rescue 🆘

You know all those different balls all over the place? Total game changer! In fact, they may be some of the most powerful self-care tools you own.

While you can use any ball, yoga tune up balls are some of my favs! Here's what you can release with 5 minutes and a ball:

🦶 Feet - Roll slowly from heel to toes. Hit that arch. This affects your ENTIRE body's alignment.
🦵 Calves - Sit on floor, ball under calf, roll slowly. Found a tender spot? Pause there, flex and point your foot 10x.
🍑 Glutes - Sit on the ball against a wall. Shift your weight around. Your sciatic nerve will love you.
💪 Forearms - (Yes, really!) Roll them on your desk. Massive for anyone who types all day.

THE RULES: ✅ Slow rolls, not fast ✅ Breathe through tender spots ✅ 30-60 seconds per area ✅ Do it while watching TV - make it easy

RED FLAGS - Stop if: ❌ Sharp, shooting pain ❌ Numbness or tingling ❌ Pain that gets worse, not better

This isn't a replacement for professional bodywork - it's maintenance between sessions. Like brushing your teeth between dental cleanings.
