AAPSCA Harford, Cecil, and Eastern ShoreImportant update: Congressional leaders have announced a FY 2026 funding deal that would keep federal sickle cell programs at their current levels and reauthorize the HRSA Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Demonstration Program. This is NOT final—Congress must still pass the package and the President must sign it by January 30 to avoid a shutdown.

Here is how you can help today:
- Call or email your U.S. Representative and both U.S. Senators and urge them to support full funding for sickle cell programs in the FY 2026 package.
- Share this post so more sickle cell warriors and allies know what is at stake.
- Comment “I’m in” if you are willing to take action, and we will follow up with scripts and contact info.

Let’s raise our voices together so every sickle cell warrior is seen, heard, and fully supported. [grants.hrsa]

GeorgeAnna Tillman, one-third of the Marvelettes, lived with both sickle cell disease and lupus. She was forced to retire from singing or told she would pass. So instead of Motown helping her with her health issues they gave her a secretary position. She passed away at the age of 35. Just one month shy of 36. One of the first to commandeer a hit record for the Motown label.
