April is Parkinson's Awareness Month.

Did you know the official flower and symbol for Parkinson's disease is the red and white tulip? Adopted in 2005, it represents hope and optimism for the community. The symbol originated from Dutch horticulturalist J.W.S. Van der Wereld, who developed a red and white variant in 1980 and named it the "Dr. James Parkinson tulip" to honor the doctor who first described the disease.
