The Gasores are truly stepping into their power at Rwanda children’s. It’s not easy. And was no accident. But they are creating schools, maternity programs, sewing facilities, agriculture projects and more. They are working towards self sufficience - and plan on this organization to run forever. But for now, it’s yearly budget relies mostly on donors.

I could not be more proud to know them, know their fruits and serve them on their board.

These are my girls. When I was pregnant with them I had migraines, influenza, strep throat and kidney stones. I was an obgyn and took Tylenol. Here’s what I knew

- high fever can cause severe birth defects
- pain and stress and lack of sleep can cause poor pregnancy outcomes
- motion/advil/ibuprofen increases the risk for birth defects, miscarriage and low amniotic fluid which increases the risk for stillbirth.
- rx migraine medicine decreased placental perfusion and narcotics just aren’t too awesome in pregnancy. Babies can be born addicted.
- autism is on the rise. But it’s complex. It’s diagnosed a bit more. But that’s not the whole story. Since it’s rise we have polluted air. Polluted food. Polluted water. Obesity due to those things. More stress. More medical conditions in pregnancy. Older pregnancies. More sedentary lifestyles. Poorer sleep. More autoimmune conditions. And more.
- there is a great sibling study which ruled out tylenol as a cause for autism in same families - thus accounting for genes, food, environment , etc in which the other studies could not exclude.

Here’s what I know and preach. Eat well. Sleep well. Exercise. Avoid pollutants. And take as little medicine in pregnancy as you need to be healthy. But. Like always. Remember. Moms are people too.

Y’all. Class on Monday was full! All these ladies right here birthed babies. I am so proud of each and every one of them and what they have accomplished. It’s never easy to grow, birth and raise a human that relies on you for every single need. And it connects every mother out there in the universe together.

I love these postpartum classes. It’s the moment I live for! The culmination of everything we do here at empowher.
