In celebration of Women’s History Month, the ACU community gathered for the Dr. Patricia Hernandez and Brenda Vandunk Leadership Award Luncheon to honor three exceptional women whose leadership continues to shape our university.

Dr. Susan Lewis (’92), provost and vice president for academic affairs; Dr. Ramonica Scott, associate professor and director of the Master of Athletic Training Program; and Naoemi Gire (’14), executive director of University Access Programs, were each recognized for their commitment to servant leadership, academic excellence and transformational impact.

We are grateful for the legacy these women are building for ACU and for future generations!

Honored to Celebrate Women in Leadership at ACU!

Grateful to have attended the Dr. Patricia Hernandez and Brenda Van Dunk Leadership Award Luncheon at Abilene Christian University today. It was inspiring to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Dr. Susan Lewis, Dr. Ramonica Scott, and Naoemi Gire—three incredible women whose leadership continues to make a lasting impact.

A heartfelt thank you to Coach Julie Goodenough for the kind introduction—it was an honor to speak at such a meaningful event. I also want to express my appreciation for Anthony Williams, who was a visionary for this event, as well as Angie Cardenas, Veronica Summers, Alice Dishong, Rachael Morales, Dr. Phil Schubert, Dr. Robert Rhodes, and the rest of the ACU senior leadership team.

ACU is proud to offer $80,000 in scholarships and grants to local high school students who complete the Hendrick Healthcare Academy and pursue a health care-related major at ACU!

This initiative is designed to support students in Abilene and the Big Country region, equipping them with the education and resources needed to excel in psychology, social work, and various health professions.

By staying local for their education and careers, these students will play a vital role in strengthening our community’s healthcare workforce.

This groundbreaking surgery improves the movement symptoms for patients with Parkinson’s Disease and essential tremor.
