It was a LONG day today in the Texas House Committee on Public Health. We are grateful to the dozens of physicians who testified over several hours in support of great physician-led patient care. Even a mother-son physician-medical student pair testified, Sara Austin, MD, and John Michael Austin! TMA Advocacy in Action: Thank you, physicians!

On behalf of the past president, current president, and president-elect of the Big Country County Medical Society, we respectfully urge patients of the Big Country to contact Representative Stan Lambert and express opposition to House Bill 3794. While we acknowledge the value of advanced practice prividers, the bill will allow unsupervised practice of medicine by non-physician providers including nurse practitioners and nurse midwives. Rep. Lambert can be reached at (512) 463-0718.
