Sting WTX soccer team practiced and played throughout the month of October for a bigger goal than winning – to raise money for The Hope Fund by Hendrick Health.

The team, made up of 6- and 7-year-olds, was challenged by their coach to complete tasks on and off the field that would "unlock" funds parents and families pledged towards a donation to The Hope Fund. At the end of the month, these players completed the tasks and recently presented a $600 check to The Hope Fund.

Thank you, Sting WTX, for raising awareness of breast cancer and helping ensure women are able to receive annual mammograms. Even at this young age, the team understood the importance of the challenge, as one player told the team before every game, "We've got to play extra hard for the women we are playing for."

In honor of their baby Eleanor, who would have turned 4 recently, the Bunnell family partnered with the Rhett Sullivan Foundation to assemble care bags for families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. The bags are filled with soothing items to offer comfort and support to grieving parents and siblings. Thank you, Bunnell family, for your kind donation and turning your love for Eleanor into a lasting gift for others.

Dr. Aimee Daily and members of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) leadership team stopped by Abilene today for the first stop of their "Five Texas Children’s Hospitals in Five Days" tour! We have been a proud partner of CMN since 1989 and believe in their mission of keeping hometown dollars local to help hometown kids! Thank you, Dr. Daily and team, and thank you to CMN for partnering with us to help local kids!

The holidays are often a wonderful time filled with family gatherings, friends and celebrations. But for some, this time of year also can be a season that brings feelings of loneliness and grief. We are just hours away from tomorrow’s Bunco for Breast Cancer at Abilene Convention Center, and just like the dots on dice, here are six fun things to remember for tomorrow:

🎲 Early Birds – For any downtown early birds, both Grain Theory and Texas Star Trading Co are giving a portion of their proceeds on the night back to The Hope Fund by Hendrick Health. Be sure to tell them you are with Bunco for Breast Cancer!

🎲 On the Way – We have 1,700-plus coming to participate, so please carpool and arrive early for pictures, snacks and even the chance to pose with the Six White Horses from Hardin-Simmons University. In the foyer, T-shirts will be for sale for $20 and raffle tickets for $5 (or 5 for $20).

🎲 Getting Started – We will start at 6 p.m. Captains have table assignments, and registration attendants can help you find your spot. All decorations and photo spots have been provided by our friends at The Confetti Collective, so we know you will love your table!

🎲 Rolling the Dice – Bunco is easy, but instructions are provided at every table and roaming experts can answer any questions!

🎲 Making a Difference – Early detection is the silver bullet against breast cancer, and your support of The Hope Fund by Hendrick Health offers every woman “Deep in the Heart of Texas” the opportunity to get a mammogram, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay!

Our Hendrick Children's Hospital team joins our wonderful partners at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) in celebrating the life of Mick Shannon. Children's Miracle Network is about raising local dollars to help local kids at local children's hospitals – and as one of CMN's cofounders, Mr. Shannon helped shape and promote that mission throughout his life. Thank you for investing in healthy kids and for the difference that CMN has made in lives of kids in our region.

We are deeply saddened to share that one of our co-founders, Mick Shannon, has passed away. In 1982, Mick helped shape a model that brought children’s hospitals, television stations, national sponsors, and heartfelt storytelling together with one purpose: to put kids first.

We hold Mick’s family in our hearts today, and we remain committed to advancing the mission he helped start. His legacy lives on in every story told, every dollar raised, and every child helped through the network he helped build.
