In addition to libraries, special programs like United Way of Abilene's local chapter of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library were designed to get books in kids' hands and to inspire them to become lifelong learners. Every person has an amazing story that fuels their passions. We are thankful for the wonderful team at RE/MAX Big Country and Whitney for sharing their stories and for helping to raise awareness and funds to support Hendrick Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network.

Hi. I'm Whitney. I'm 2 — almost 3. 🎀

I don't really understand what the doctors are telling my mommy and daddy right now. I just know something is wrong, and there are a lot of tears, and the word they keep saying is leukemia.

It's 1993. I've been diagnosed with ALL — Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Childhood cancer.

I don't know yet how hard the next few years will be. I don't know about the treatments, the hospital stays, the fear my parents carried every single day. I just know my family loves me, and somehow — we are going to get through this. 💛

What little Whitney also didn't know?

That one year before — in 1992 — a real estate company called RE/MAX made a promise to fight for kids just like me. They partnered with Children's Miracle Network, and they have never stopped. Over 30 years and more than $230 million dollars raised for children's hospitals across North America.

Fast forward to today.

I am 35 years old. 💛

With God’s grace, I am GREAT. I am GOOD. I am HEALTHY. I am thriving. I have a beautiful family and a story that I will never stop being grateful for.

And today, I am a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Big Country — and I wear that name on my badge with everything I have.

Because to me, it was never just a brokerage. It was a company that showed up for sick little kids when it mattered most. Kids like me.

God had a plan for that little 2 year old girl all along. 🤝✨

Join the Hendrick Health team by applying for the position of Volunteer Services manager. This important role serves our community by supervising our healthcare system's volunteer programs. The role also includes overseeing the operation of the The Gift Shop at Hendrick and First Perk Coffee Shop.

By managing these two businesses within the hospitals and using our amazing volunteers, we are able to raise money each year that is invested in the community through healthcare scholarships, programs and projects benefiting our neighbors in the Big Country, Brown County and beyond!

For more than a decade, The Berenstain Bears have been partners with Hendrick Children's Hospital – allowing their cheerful illustrations to dance along our hospital's walls. Brother and Sister Bear also serve as our Pediatric Healthcare Ambassadors by attending community events and hosting fun healthcare rallies at local schools.

Today is International Happiness Day 😃! At Hendrick Health, partnerships make us incredibly happy. By teaming up with local healthcare providers, connecting with the business community and engaging with fellow nonprofits, our hope is to leverage community resources to better serve our neighbors in the Big Country, Brown County and beyond!

One of our great local partners is Brian LaCroix and his team at Chick-fil-A Abilene in south Abilene. They recently donated more than 300 food cards for some of our frontline staff.

Last Saturday, Hendrick Foundation welcomed 100 physicians from Abilene and our region to the Texas Medical Association's Local Medicine Matters conference.

THANK YOU to the Big Country County Medical Society for inviting the Foundation to be an event partner and for helping to bring all these wonderful doctors together for a time of education and inspiration.

Local medicine truly does matter, and we appreciate all the providers who work so hard and strive each day to care for our community.

From the beginning, philanthropic support has fueled our mission and helped us better serve our neighbors. This state-of-the-art system at Hendrick Rehabilitation Hospital gives patients the confidence to rehabilitate safely.

Last week, Brad Benham, vice president for Hendrick Medical Center Foundation and board chair of Abilene Chamber of Commerce, had the honor of giving the welcomes at the Texas Farm, Ranch & Wildlife Expo and the Agriculture Legacy Luncheon.

Brad thanked the farmers and ranchers for the food on our tables, the clothes on our backs and their amazing generosity to our community. A perfect example of that generosity is the Foundation's largest fundraiser, Legends Dove Hunt, which is possible because of big-hearted landowners sharing their property.

Legends Dove Hunt is just one way the Foundation tries to encourage our community to bless one another and to create opportunities for neighbors to help neighbors.
