We are counting on you to help stock our shelves for the holidays. Donations will be accepted 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Second Floor Meeting Room.

Hendrick Regional Blood Center, 1701 Pine Street, will be closed Wednesday to accommodate the drive. Platelet donor appointments and therapeutic patients still will be accepted at the donor center.

CALLING ALL O-NEGATIVE DONORS! We currently are experiencing an increased demand for O-negative type blood, but all blood types are needed to help us restock our shelves before the holiday break.

HOW TO HELP: Donating life-saving blood makes a great Christmas gift. Here’s where you can find us this week to donate:

12/16 – Comanche, Comanche County Medical Center, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

12/17 – Brownwood, Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Second Floor Meeting Room), 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

12/18 – Albany, First Baptist Church, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

12/19 – Clyde, Big Country Hardware, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Donations also can be made at Hendrick Regional Blood Center, 1701 Pine Street, this week on Tuesday and Thursday (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), Friday (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m. – noon). The donor center will be closed Wednesday to staff the Brownwood blood drive, but platelet donor appointments and therapeutic patients still will be accepted at the donor center.

• View and pay bills
• Set up autopay or payment plans
• Review insurance and payment history
• Update personal details
• Enroll in paperless statements

Although this season of thanks is coming to a close, we are always thankful for our dedicated blood donors. Every drop donated directly impacts our community.

To show our gratitude, we recently hosted our annual Donor Appreciation Dinner to honor the blood center's highest-contributing blood and platelet donors. We had a wonderful time celebrating these generous individuals with delicious food, fellowship and various speakers.

Meet Vesper, a future service dog in training! Hendrick Health partners with Hardin-Simmons University and Canine Companions to help pups like Vesper with basic training and socialization skills before they head off to intensive training. You may recognize his big "brother," Pascal (second picture).

Vesper is a 15-week-old Labrador-golden retriever mix full of personality. We are excited to be a part of his journey!

Hendrick Surgical Services recently guided Wylie High School students through a hands-on "surgery" demonstration using a mannequin and pig intestines. Students also learned about the surgical patient journey, from pre-admission to post-op care. Through experiences like this, our Workforce Development program aims to inspire the next generation of healthcare providers!

Research shows support is key to successfully quitting smoking. Yesterday, Hendrick Health team members shared smoking cessation resources with hospital staff and visitors in Abilene in conjunction with the Great American Smokeout, an American Cancer Society initiative challenging individuals to quit smoking.

Hey donors! Help us get ahead of the busy season by donating at our community and employee blood drive today and tomorrow, October 28-29. Your donation can ensure someone in need makes it home for the holidays.

The drive is inside Hendrick Medical Center in Tom Roberts Conference Center, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Donors can enter through the hospital’s main entrance and take the elevator to the second floor to the center.

Hendrick Regional Blood Center, 1701 Pine St., will be closed during the drive. Normal business hours resume Thursday, October 30.
