Christmas in July at Faithful Steps! 🎅🎄

Last week, we unwrapped a little holiday magic in the middle of summer—and it was so worth it! Our clients and staff rocked silly Santa hats, cozy Christmas sweaters, and festive PJ’s while enjoying all kinds of holiday-themed fun. From coloring sheets to Santa and reindeer crafts! 🎁🖍️🦌

We love transforming fun events into meaningful learning opportunities, and this one was no exception. The joy on our clients’ faces (and our team’s too!) reminded us just how special these moments are.

The smiles were bright, the laughter was loud, and the memories? Absolutely merry. 🥰

Now we’re counting down the days ‘til the real holiday season—bring on the magic! 🎅

🌟 Meet the Team: Maria Cruz – RBT & Student Analyst🌟

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another “Meet the Team” spotlight! This week we’re excited to introduce Maria Cruz, one of our passionate RBTs and a current Student Analyst here at Faithful Steps Therapy Solutions. 💙

Maria’s heart for helping others started in high school, where she volunteered with her dance team to create Christmas plays for children with special needs. That spark led her to ABA—and she’s never looked back.

With over two years in the field, Maria says nothing beats seeing a child thrive.
“Watching a child say their name for the first time or hearing their parents celebrate a new word—it’s everything.”

She believes the best part of ABA is how play creates real progress.
“It’s all about connection. Each child’s program is tailored to their needs—and amazing things happen when they feel supported.”

✨ Fun fact: Maria wants to shave her head one day—just to say she did!
☕ Go-to therapy day fuel? Caramel iced coffee and a fig bar.
🎶 After work, you’ll find her dancing and listening to music with her two kids—her favorite way to recharge.

Favorite children’s book or movie? The Rainbow Fish and Moana.

For Maria, Faithful Steps means “being surrounded by a team that truly has my back.”
And her favorite reminder of why she does this work?
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” – Psalm 127:3

We’re so thankful for Maria’s heart, energy, and unwavering faith. Come back next week to meet another amazing team member!

🌟 Meet the Team: Cherie Wood – BCBA 🌟

It’s time for another “Meet the Team” feature, and this week we’re excited to introduce Cherie Wood, one of our incredible BCBAs!

Cherie has been in the ABA field for over 10 years, but it was one powerful moment that set her on this path—when her very first client said his first word during a session. From that moment, she knew this work was her calling.

She loves seeing the impact of therapy beyond the clinic walls.
“It’s not just about teaching skills—it’s about helping families thrive together.”

Cherie is passionate about play-based learning and wishes more people knew that ABA often looks like fun.
“Learning should be joyful—engaging kids in meaningful play is where the magic happens.”

✨ Fun fact: Cherie was born in South Africa! Her go-to snacks? Sparkling water with chips and guac.
🎥 Favorite kids’ movie: Finding Nemo
🧘‍♀️ Favorite way to unwind: A walk or run outdoors to recharge.

Her guiding verse?
“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

Cherie says the best part of Faithful Steps is the team:
“Being surrounded by people who care deeply and support each other makes this work even more meaningful.”

We’re so grateful for Cherie’s leadership and heart!

🌟 Meet the Team: Alexis Pavloff – RBT 🌟

It’s time for another edition of our “Meet the Team” series—where we shine a spotlight on the incredible people who help carry out the mission of Faithful Steps Therapy Solutions. 💙

This week, we’re thrilled to introduce Alexis Pavloff, one of our compassionate and thoughtful RBTs, who has been working in the field of ABA for about 3 years.

What led her here?
“My desire to help others. Seeing a child learn to communicate, engage socially, and gain independence is deeply rewarding.”

One of her favorite parts of the job?
“Knowing the work done in therapy is also improving the child’s home life and family dynamics—it’s very fulfilling.”

Alexis also wants people to know that ABA has come a long way:
“Best practices today prioritize consent, person-centered goals, and quality of life—not just behavior change. That’s something I wish more people understood.”

📚 Her favorite children's story is “Where the Wild Things Are.” She says:
“The Wild Things aren’t just monsters—they’re symbols of Max’s internal world, especially how kids struggle to make sense of big feelings.” 🐾

🎶 After a long day, you’ll probably find Alexis in the backyard with her husband and little family, listening to music and making heartfelt memories.

Fun fact: She got married before the age of 21 to her amazing husband—who constantly pushes her to be her best. 💍

And the verse that grounds her work every day:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” – Colossians 3:23-24

When asked what makes being part of the Faithful Steps team so special, Alexis shared:
“Since day one, the team has welcomed me with open arms. To work with such an amazing group of people who are both compassionate and understanding is rewarding by itself.”

We’re so grateful for Alexis’ heart, wisdom, and commitment to serving families with excellence and love.

See you next week for another amazing team feature!

🌟 Meet the Team: Hope Hernandez – RBT 🌟

Welcome back to our weekly “Meet the Team” series—where we introduce you to the incredible people who make Faithful Steps Therapy Solutions what it is. 💙

This week, we’re excited to spotlight Hope Hernandez, one of our amazing RBTs who’s been bringing love, laughter, and dedication to our team for the past 4 months!

“I’ve always had a passion for helping children grow and communicate. When I learned about ABA, it felt like the perfect way to make a lasting difference.”

Hope’s favorite part of working with children on the autism spectrum?
“It’s super rewarding to see how they’re doing—especially those little wins that make a big difference.”

One of her proudest moments?
“When a child says their name for the first time or waves back after I model it. Those small victories may seem simple, but they’re powerful signs of growth—and they remind me why this work matters so much.” 🥹

☕ Her therapy day essentials? Black coffee and animal crackers—yep, literally in her pocket.
💭 If she could have any superpower, it would be mind-reading—to better understand how her kiddos are feeling, even without words.

🎉 Fun fact: Hope and her two teenage boys live life to the fullest! Whether it’s geocaching, dancing, or spontaneous trips to Mexico for tacos and family time, there’s never a dull moment.

Her favorite way to unwind after a long day?
Hitting the gym, relaxing in the sauna with music, or simply cruising around town with her favorite songs—it’s her version of peace.

Hope says working at Faithful Steps means “being part of something meaningful—where faith and purpose come together to help children grow.”

And the verse that keeps her heart centered:
“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14
“This reminds me to lead every session with love, patience, and grace.”

We’re so blessed to have Hope on our team. Come back next week to meet more of the faces behind the mission!

Happy 4th of July from all of us at Faithful Steps!

As we enjoy the fireworks, food, and festivities, we pause to give thanks to the One who gives true freedom and purpose—our Lord and Savior. May your day be filled with joy, gratitude, and the reminder that we are truly blessed to be free.

🌟 Meet the Team: Scotlyn Barker – RBT & Student Analyst 🌟

It’s time for another “Meet the Team” spotlight—our weekly series where we introduce you to the passionate individuals behind the heart and mission of Faithful Steps Therapy Solutions. 💙

This week, we’re featuring Scotlyn Barker, one of our dedicated RBTs who’s also on the path to becoming a BCBA!

Scotlyn’s journey started back in high school:
“Being part of the PALS program opened my heart to working with individuals with special needs. It showed me the joy and purpose in helping others, even though I didn’t yet know what path to take. When I discovered ABA and started working in the clinic, everything just clicked.”

With 2.5 years of experience in the field, she continues to be inspired by the children she works with every day:
“I love seeing their determination and the special, one-of-a-kind ways they do things.”

One unforgettable moment?
“Seeing a child use functional communication for the first time—it was incredibly powerful.” 🥹

Scotlyn wants people to know that ABA is more than therapy—it’s joy-filled learning:
“Most of our therapy takes place in natural, play-based settings. We use the child’s favorite items and activities to keep things engaging and fun while celebrating every success, big or small.”

🎸 Fun fact: Scotlyn plays the guitar! After a long day, she loves to unwind with music or a good book.
Favorite book? “You Are Special” by Max Lucado.
Go-to drink and snack? A brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso and animal crackers. ☕🐻

And the verse that keeps her centered:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:2–3 🕊️

Scotlyn brings a heart full of compassion, a spirit ready to serve, and a deep love for the kids and families she works with. We’re so grateful to have her on our team!

Come back next week to meet another amazing member of the Faithful Steps family.
