💙 Celebrating 70 Years of Impact — United Way of Abilene 💙

Yesterday, our PMCM team had the opportunity to attend the United Way of Abilene’s annual luncheon, where they celebrated an incredible 70 years of impact in our community.

For decades, United Way has helped strengthen the Big Country by supporting local nonprofits focused on financial stability, education, and health & wellbeing — and we’re grateful to be among the partner agencies they support.

One of the most meaningful moments of the luncheon came from President Cathy Ashby, who shared a powerful analogy of a tree to describe United Way’s impact:

🌱 The visionaries who planted the seed
🌳 The leaders and contributors who formed the trunk
🌿 The donors who extend the branches
🍃 And the nonprofits, like PMCM as the leaves, carrying out the mission in the community

And perhaps most impactful — the idea of planting a tree whose shade you may never sit under… but one that creates lasting, generational impact for others.

Congratulations to United Way of Abilene on 70 years of making a difference — and thank you for your continued support of our mission and the patients we serve. 💙

📰 Thank you, Abilene Reporter-News — and Ronald Erdrich!

We’re incredibly grateful for their presence at the Undie Run, capturing great moments, interviewing, and sharing the story behind the event.

Your coverage did a fantastic job highlighting the event’s fun and quirky approach to raising awareness around a very serious issue — colon cancer.

We especially appreciated the connection you made as a perfect segway from Colon Cancer Awareness Month into Public Health Awareness in April, emphasizing the importance of early screening, early detection, and saving lives.

Thank you for helping us continue this important conversation and for shining a light on the impact being made right here in our community. 💙

💙 Thank you, Hendrick Health and Dr. Mathur.

This is a great video that helps shine a light on such an important and preventable health issue.

Colon cancer continues to impact far too many individuals and families, but through education, awareness, and screening, lives can be saved.

Thank you for sharing valuable information on risk factors, prevention, and screening recommendations and for your commitment to improving the health of our community. 💙

📺 Thank you, KTAB 4u!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be on the air last week to share more about the Block Party and Undie Run 5K and the importance of colon cancer awareness and early detection. 💙

Thank you for helping us spread the word about the free screening options available locally through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s ACTION Program (Against Colorectal Cancer Together In Our Neighborhood) and delivery sites like PMCM.
We appreciate your support in helping educate and connect our community to life-saving resources. 💙

💙 Happy Doctor’s Appreciation Day 💙

Today we celebrate and honor the physicians who make the mission possible.

For the past 43 years, PMCM has been blessed by doctors who have answered a true calling to serve — providing compassionate, Christ-centered care to patients in our community who need it most.

We are deeply grateful for our current medical team, as well as the many physicians who have served the mission over the years. Your compassion, dedication, and commitment to your patients make a lasting impact every single day.

Thank you for all that you do — we appreciate you more than words can express. 💙

📰 Thank you, Abilene Reporter-News !!

We’re grateful to the Abilene Reporter-News for coming out to the Undie Run, capturing great moments, and helping us continue to raise awareness about colon cancer during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. 💙

Your coverage helps spread an important message about early detection, prevention, and access to screening options right here in our community.

And we have to say… calling it a “colossal colon” was pretty spot on! 😄

Thank you again for your support in helping us wipe out colon cancer in the Big Country.

💙 What an incredible morning at the PMCM Undie Run 5K & Block Party!

We were blessed with beautiful weather and an amazing turnout from our community. The support from our volunteers, board members, vendors, staff, and participants was truly incredible — we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

And yes… the 16-foot inflatable colon held strong (for the most part 😄).

We even had a surprise appearance from Captain Underpants, who quickly became a fan favorite and showed up in perfect themed fashion!

A special thank you to our co-host and presenting sponsor, TTUHSC’s ACTION Program (Against Colorectal Cancer Together In Our Neighborhood). We were honored to receive a Colorectal Cancer Champion Award recognizing our medical team’s efforts in helping patients access life-saving screenings.
We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for this community and the opportunity to raise awareness for such an important cause. 💙
