Day 1! Stay tuned!

Today marked a huge milestone for Tom! He received his transfemoral osseointegrated prosthesis and took his first steps since his surgery last Fall 🦿

This is just the start of his rehabilitation, and we’re confident he’ll do well! Tom is motivated to return to all the things he did before surgery, now with the added mobility and freedom that osseointegration provides.

Thanks to the integrated prosthetic rehabilitation model developed over the past three years by Real Life Prosthetics and Align Rehabilitation, Tom has a dedicated team behind him every step of the way! We’re all proud to be part of his journey!

I am truly honored to receive the Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Award from APTA Maryland. Thank you for recognizing my work in amputee rehabilitation and the mission behind Align Rehabilitation.

This award celebrates the legacy of Florence and Henry Kendall, a husband-and-wife team whose pioneering research during the polio epidemic helped define modern physical therapy. Their contributions to muscle testing, posture, and therapeutic exercise set a standard for clinical excellence and education that continues to shape our profession.

Their legacy inspires my own vision: to not only provide high-quality care to individuals with limb loss, but to educate other physical therapists and healthcare providers so that access to specialized, amputee care is available to all who need it. Through Align Rehabilitation, I aim to carry forward the Kendalls’ spirit of innovation, leadership, and dedication to service.

We are deeply humbled and appreciative to be the recipient of the 2024 Harford Award in the Service category from the Harford County Chamber of Commerce this evening at Water’s Edge Events Center.

For the past 23 ½ years, Real Life Prosthetics has been dedicated to serving our community, and this recognition means so much to us. Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission— we look forward to continuing our work here in Harford County!

For the past month, I’ve had the pleasure of hosting Alessia, a physical therapy student from Italy, who reached out to me after learning about the specialized amputee rehabilitation we offer at Align Rehabilitation.

Her passion for advancing her education and gaining clinical experience in prosthetic rehabilitation led her to fly across the world to train under me, and I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to contribute to her journey.

My mission in founding Align Rehabilitation has always been to further educate others on amputee rehabilitation. I remember the struggle of finding a clinical rotation that could provide comprehensive training in prosthetic rehabilitation when I was in PT school… it simply did not exist. That challenge inspired me to create the clinic I was always searching for.

Being able to offer this kind of specialized training, a caseload of 100% amputee care, is extremely rare, and I feel incredibly fortunate to contribute to the physical therapy profession in this way. I’m thrilled to see the impact we can have on a global scale, and I hope Alessia will return to Italy and share her knowledge with her peers.

Her dedication and passion remind me so much of myself. I have no doubt she will do amazing things, and who knows—maybe one day we’ll see an Align Rehabilitation, Italy location!
