We created this post as more and more patients expressed increased symptoms in the time surrounding Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
Holiday stress can increase pelvic floor tension (just like tight shoulders), leading to pain, urgency, and leaks. Long travel days = more sitting, less movement, and increased pelvic pressure. Compound that with decadent, low-fiber foods, reduced hydration, more alcohol, and you have a recipe for constipation and bladder irritation.
Disrupted sleep and daily routines also affect muscle recovery and coordination—making it harder for your pelvic floor to manage pressure and control bladder and bowel function.
