Several patients in the office benefited from some dry needling today!
👉 Knee pain
👉 Sacroiliac joint (low back) pain
👉 Hip pain that radiates down IT band

What does that even mean?

Dry needling IS:
- a tool that trained Doctors of Physical Therapy can employ to decrease pain in joints and muscles
- effective at increasing bloodflow in a deeper manner than other modalities
- very helpful for back/neck pain, joint pain (knees, shoulder, hip, foot), jaw/TMJ dysfunction, headaches

Dry needling is NOT:
- entirely painless. While the needles used are very small monofilament, it can feel like a little bee sting at time of insertion and the treatment area can be sore for 1-2days afterward.
- for everyone. An excellent clinician would never perform dry needling if a patient is not an appropriate candidate. Fear of needles is a legitimate contraindication!
- the only tool in our toolbox. Dry needling is only one piece of the puzzle, and is best when paired with functional movement, postural training, and strength exercise!

Objects in motion stay in motion, and here at Inertia we're doing our best to keep everyone moving!

We love the wide variety of patients we get to work with, and this week that included:
-Chronic back pain with recent onset of severe sciatic nerve pain radiating down entire leg
-Several pregnant mommas seeking relief from discomfort as well as preparing for childbirth
-Young male engineer with upper back/neck pain contributing to jaw tension and headaches
-Older male with bladder and bowel dysfunction after treatment for prostate cancer
-Postpartum (vaginal and c-section birth) mommas seeking pain relief and looking forward to returning to fitness
