The first day of Spring is a beautiful reminder that new beginnings are always possible. As the season changes and flowers begin to bloom, we’re reminded of the growth, resilience, and renewed strength we see every day in the lives of those we serve. At Real Life Prosthetics, even a custom floral lamination can symbolize that journey, representing hope, restoration, and the courage to keep moving forward. A prosthesis is more than a device; it becomes a part of your story. If you have ever considered a custom design our team is here to help bring that vision to life! 🌷

Q: Do I need physical therapy with a prosthesis?

A: Yes. Physical therapy is a vital part of learning to walk, balancing, and moving safely with your prosthesis. It strengthens your muscles, improves gait, and helps you build confidence as you return to daily life.

Since 2022, Real Life Prosthetics and Align Rehabilitation have partnered to create an integrated prosthetic rehab model that brings your prosthetist and your physical therapist together in the same day, in the same visit when possible. This collaboration allows real-time adjustments, clearer communication, and smoother recovery process, helping you progress faster and more safely. With guided training, personalized instruction, and a team that understands both your device and your goals, you can look forward to steady improvement and long-term mobility you can trust.

Delivery day🦿 today for an above-knee prosthetic with a BOA Fit System, fabricated in our lab here in Abingdon, Maryland, paired with a Ottobock Genium X4 and Triton VS.

This patient is incredibly active and competitive, and every detail of this prosthetic was designed to help him reach his personal goals and get back to the activities he loves.

Seeing the smile on his face when he felt the fit reminds us why we do what we do… building solutions around each patients life, not just their limb.

We can’t wait to see all he accomplishes in the coming year!

Q: Will a prosthesis feel natural overtime?

A: Many prosthetic users find that, over time, their device integrates smoothly into daily activities, helping them regain independence and confidence. While a prosthesis cannot fully replicate the sensation of a natural limb, proper fit, alignment, and physical therapy or gait training make it feel like a reliable extension of your body.

At Real Life Prosthetics, our clinical team works closely with you, making adjustments, providing training, and monitoring your progress to ensure your prosthesis supports comfortable, natural movement. With time, patience, and guidance, most patients experience a significant increase in mobility, confidence, and the ability to return to activities they enjoy.
