Monday Q&A: O&P Edition
Q: Will I need a new prosthesis every year?

A: Not necessarily. We aim for long-term durability but reevaluate fit, function, and components regularly. Needs may change, but our care doesn’t.

Time for a follow-up? We’ll assess what’s working and what could be better. Call and schedule with us today at (410) 569-0606

Yesterday morning, Olivia Slaughter, CPO, and Mitch Stuchlik, CPO, spent time sharpening their clinical skills at an in-person course organized by SEBCM presented by Ottobock which provided an in-depth look at the nuances and biomechanics of running prostheses. This was in conjunction with the upcoming Mobility Day organized by SEBCM being held tomorrow, Saturday, December 6th at University of Maryland College Park.

We are grateful for opportunities like this that help our clinicians continue to grow in their profession and bring even more knowledge back to patients we serve. Olivia and Mitch are always eager to learn, stay current, and strengthen the care they provide, and we are proud to support their ongoing commitment to excellence.

Real Life Prosthetics remains thankful for SEBCM and Ottobock who invest in education that directly impacts patient outcomes. This kind of collaboration helps us continue delivering patient-centered, high-quality prosthetic care to our community.

We love seeing our CPO’s celebrated as alumni! It’s a wonderful reminder of the lasting impact of their roots and the pride they carry from their school days into their professional journey. 🦾

From the halls of Salesianum to a career transforming lives, alum Mitch Stuchlik ’15 shares how the lessons learned here echo far beyond graduation.

"The lessons I learned from Salesianum prepared me well for the classroom and, perhaps more importantly, they prepared me for a clinical career. I observed Fr. Beretta remain present and calm throughout stressful situations and now I behave similarly in the clinic. Mr. Dan and Matt Kegelman, Mr. Menicucci, and many others taught me to read, interpret, comprehend, listen, communicate, set expectations, and exceed them. Some days at work, I tighten a bolt. Every day at work, I do ordinary things extraordinarily well."

Now a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist at Real Life Prosthetics, Mitch blends engineering, innovation, and compassion to help patients regain mobility—and has even returned to share his expertise with our students. Proud of our alum making a difference!
