🎁 Gift Responsibly: Lottery Tickets Aren’t Child’s Play

At Highlands Community Services, we are proud to join partners across Virginia and the nation in raising awareness about the risks of youth gambling.

Children who are exposed to gambling at an early age — even through something as simple as receiving a lottery ticket as a gift — are four times more likely to develop a gambling problem later in life. Early exposure can impact healthy brain development, decision-making, and long-term wellbeing.

As we enter the holiday season, we encourage our community to choose safe, age-appropriate gifts and help protect the young people in our region. Lottery tickets may seem fun, but they’re not meant for minors.
