Hepatitis A
⭐️ Viral illness that affects liver cells leading to inflammation
⭐️ Affects all ages
⭐️ Spread through Fecal-Oral contact
⭐️ Lives in microscopic amounts while symptomatic and up to 2 weeks after.
⭐️ Most people with active Hepatitis A have no symptoms.
⭐️ 99% recovery in Children
⭐️ Symptoms can begin 15-50 days after exposure
⭐️ No specific complications. Hospitalizations are due to coagulopathy, encephalopathy or dehydration from vomiting.
Vaccine
⭐️ 2 dose series
⭐️ Completed series is 95% effective with 15-50 years of immunity
⭐️ 85% effective if given 2 weeks after exposure (individuals not previously vaccinated)
Travel Tips
⭐️ Wash all fruits and veggies with bottled water.
⭐️ Peel own fruits and veggies.
⭐️ Avoid undercooked meats or fish.
⭐️ Avoid iced beverages
⭐️ Use bottled water water to brush teeth.
⭐️ Boil water if bottle is not available.
ASD vs Vaccines
⭐️ Article was released in the 1990s reporting 12 children to have a higher risk of Autism with vaccines. This article was proven wrong in several other studies involving 650,000 children born between 1999-2010. This study by Annals of Internal Medicine determined that there was no correlation between ASD and vaccines. It determined that the vaccinated population had a decreased incidence of Autism.
