Elmer had been through it all, multiple injections, temporary relief, constant swelling, and a lifestyle that kept him on his feet as a referee and coach. Some things helped, but only for a short time.

Then he tried PRP.

It wasn’t overnight but after a few months, he started to notice:
✔️ Easier movement
✔️ Less swelling
✔️ Less pain

In his words: “This is the most success I’ve ever had… without getting a replacement.”

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, treatments like PRP may help patients find relief and potentially avoid surgery, especially when other options haven’t delivered lasting results.

If you've tried it all and still haven't found relief, talk to us today.

The first week after hip surgery matters more than most people think.

It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing the right movements to support healing and get your body working again.

Start simple:
✔️ Toe curls to stimulate blood flow
✔️ Ankle circles (both directions)
✔️ Gentle knee extension and quad activation

These small movements help reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and set the foundation for recovery, while protecting the hip (keeping flexion under 90° early on).

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, recovery is guided every step of the way so patients can heal safely and get back to doing what they love.

At 96, this former surgeon came in with severe shoulder pain from advanced osteoarthritis and was barely able to function from the pain.

Her case required a highly complex vault reconstruction surgery to rebuild the joint before replacement could even be performed.

Just 4 weeks later, she’s already regaining motion and getting her life back.

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, patients with osteoarthritis have options, ranging from conservative care to advanced surgical solutions, all focused on reducing pain and restoring function.

Because no matter your age, living in constant pain shouldn’t be the only path forward.

On top of the hospital (zoom in) and at the top of our game!

Graduating from the fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute alongside an incredible group of co-fellows is something I won’t forget.

This year pushed me in so many ways. The hours were long, the cases were complex, and the expectations were high. After already completing years of orthopaedic training, this was another level, constant learning, refining technique, and being challenged to think differently in the operating room.

But it was also one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve been a part of.

Standing on the roof felt symbolic. Not because we’ve “made it,” but because of how far we’ve come and how much higher the standard has become because of this experience.

Grateful for the training, the mentors, and the people I went through it with. Now it’s about bringing that level of care to every patient moving forward.

If this photo doesn't scream "Spring" in your face, I don't know what does!

It's beautiful to see the world coming to life. This photo Dr. Ayzenberg took while visiting Mt. Hood, Oregon, is a gorgeous example to stop and smell the lavender.

For over a decade, Brian lived with shoulder dislocations, pain, and uncertainty.

He saw multiple surgeons and every time, the answer was the same:
“You need a shoulder replacement.”
At just 49 years old.

Then he came to Dr. Ayzenberg.

Instead of defaulting to replacement, a plan was built around preserving his shoulder—combining a complex arthroscopic repair with PRP to support healing.

Less than 6 months later?
✔️ No pain
✔️ Sleeping through the night
✔️ Back to lifting and physical work
✔️ “Feels better than it has in 20 years”

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, the focus is simple:
Use the right approach for the patient—not just the textbook.

Book an appointment with us and see how we can help you get back to your life.

At 96 years old, this was no ordinary case.

A former physician herself, she came to Dr. Ayzenberg with a nearly non-functional shoulder and severe, debilitating pain that had taken over her daily life. After failing extensive conservative care and relying on narcotics without relief, surgery became the only path forward—but at her age, every detail matters.

This procedure required an exceptional level of precision, planning, and care. Bone quality, tissue integrity, and overall health all make shoulder surgery at 96 incredibly delicate—where even small decisions can have a major impact on outcome.

It’s a powerful example of what modern orthopaedic surgery can achieve when technique and experience come together.

Two months ago, Ken underwent surgery for a complex distal humerus fracture.

Today he’s already demonstrating excellent range of motion in his elbow—straightening, bending, and rotating with impressive control and function.

Early recovery like this doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of precise surgical technique, the right fixation, and a dedicated rehabilitation process.

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, Dr. Ayzenberg focuses on restoring not just healing—but real, functional movement that gets patients back to living their lives.

Recovery is a process. And in cases like Ken’s, progress can come faster than most expect.

Casually sharing ice cream with one of the true pioneers in shoulder surgery.

Here I am with Dr. Stephen J. Snyder—a leader in orthopaedic sports medicine and widely recognized as one of the fathers of shoulder arthroscopy. From developing groundbreaking surgical techniques to inventing instruments used in surgeries around the world, Dr. Snyder’s impact on modern shoulder care is unmatched.

During my Sports, Arthroscopy and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, I had the privilege of learning directly from Dr. Snyder.

Grateful to have trained with the best—and to bring those same techniques and standards of care to patients here in Pennsylvania.

What happens when a surgeon uses the same precision with photography as he does in the operating room? Photos like these.

Rising from the tidal flats of Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel is one of France’s most iconic landmarks — a centuries-old abbey perched atop a rocky island, surrounded by water at high tide and vast sands at low tide. Its changing surroundings make every moment feel entirely unique.

Dr. Ayzenberg took two long-exposure shots of this beautiful landmark - one right as the sun was setting, and the other was just after the sun set and the colors started changing.

Which one is your favorite?

Dr. Evan O’Brien — an orthopaedic spine surgeon and active CrossFit athlete — was dealing with bone-on-bone arthritis in his knee.

After a scope procedure elsewhere, things didn’t improve… they got worse.
Pain. Limping. Losing the ability to do what he loves.

Instead of jumping straight to a total knee replacement, he came to Dr. Ayzenberg to explore stem cell therapy.

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, Dr. Ayzenberg performed a bone marrow–derived stem cell procedure, precisely targeting the area beneath the cartilage damage.

The result?

✔️ No longer limping
✔️ Returned to CrossFit and daily activity
✔️ Significantly improved function in a matter of months
✔️ Avoided knee replacement surgery

At Iron Mountain Orthopaedic Institute, we focus on advanced, targeted treatments that may help you avoid surgery — and get back to doing what you love.

If you're struggling with joint pain or injuries, schedule a call with Dr. Ayzenberg's team to see how we can help you.

Rebuilding your knee after surgery starts with the fundamentals.

In this video, Dr. Ayzenberg walks through key exercises to help you regain strength and motion safely during recovery.

✔️ Quad activation to maintain muscle strength and prevent atrophy
✔️ Controlled knee straightening — even small improvements matter
✔️ Gradual bending exercises to restore range of motion over time
✔️ Simple techniques like heel slides and assisted hangs to support progress

Every recovery is different, and not every exercise applies to every surgery — which is why following your specific post-op plan is critical.

The goal isn’t to rush. It’s to progress steadily, safely, and effectively so you can get back to full function.
