📣 Update on Pennsylvania Driving Guidelines for Patients with Seizures:
We want to share an important update regarding Pennsylvania driving regulations for individuals with seizure disorders.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has recently updated its guidelines, reducing the required seizure-free period before resuming driving from 6 months to 3 months.
What this means for you:
* Patients may be eligible to resume driving after being seizure-free for at least 3 months, with or without medication.
* Your treating provider must confirm that it is safe for you to return to driving.
* In some cases, your provider may recommend a longer restriction period if there are concerns about safety.
* Certain situations may qualify for exceptions based on your specific seizure pattern or medical history.
This change reflects current medical evidence and allows for a more individualized approach to driving safety, rather than a one-size-fits-all requirement.
If you have experienced a recent seizure or have questions about your ability to drive, please contact our office to discuss your specific situation. Your safety—and the safety of others—is our top priority.
