I recently returned to Hill Street, my grandmother’s home.

A home away from home for me.

A place filled with safety, connection, and belonging.

Some places and people shape us more than we realize 💛

That sense of warmth and belonging is the inspiration behind Hill Street Therapy and Wellness and the space we strive to create for every client. I look forward to continuing my grandmother’s legacy by supporting, advocating and caring for our community.

To our current clients and families, thank you for entrusting us with your story and your care. We hold that trust in the highest regard.

To our community, we look forward to connecting, building relationships, and being part of your journey.

With immense gratitude,
Erin

✨ We’re excited to share that our Wellness Support Program now serves young adults in addition to youth and teens! ✨

Youth Wellness Support Program (Ages 5–21)
Bridging therapy and real life through collaborative care

Our Youth Wellness Support Program provides real-time, strengths-based support to children and teens who are actively participating in therapy. Through weekly sessions in home, school, or community settings, a Wellness Specialist helps clients practice and apply therapeutic skills in everyday situations.

We focus on:
✔ Reinforcing emotional regulation and coping strategies
✔ Supporting social skills, communication, and problem-solving
✔ Building routines, independence, and self-confidence
✔ Coordinating closely with treatment teams under clinical supervision
This program helps youth turn therapeutic goals into meaningful, lasting growth

Young Adult Wellness Support Program (Ages 21+)
Expanding support for life’s next chapter

We are excited to now offer the same collaborative, real-world support model to young adults actively participating in therapy.

Each week, under the guidance of a licensed clinician, a Wellness Specialist works alongside clients in their everyday environments to strengthen:
✔ Emotional regulation and coping skills
✔ Executive functioning and follow-through
✔ Social skills and communication
✔ Problem-solving and life transitions
✔ Independence and confidence
Because growth doesn’t stop at adolescence — and neither does support

In football and in mental health progress isn’t always loud or flashy. Sometimes it’s quiet confidence, showing up when it’s hard, and trusting the work you’ve put in.

At Hill Street Therapy and Wellness, we’re reminded that growth doesn’t mean perfection. It means patience, support and believing in yourself even when others aren’t sure yet.

Progress is built one step, one play, one brave choice at a time.

When families and professionals first hear about a new group, there are usually a lot of important questions — “Will my child feel comfortable? Will they have to talk? Is this the right fit?”

These are some of the most common questions we hear, and we wanted to take a moment to answer them.

Our Mindful Artist Group is designed to support youth who may struggle to express big feelings, manage stress, or feel confident in group settings. Through a blend of creative expression and mindfulness, we are offering a safe, non-judgmental space to build emotional awareness, resilience, and connection — without pressure to perform, share, or “get it right.”

🎨 No art experience needed
🧠 Mindfulness skills they can use anywhere
💛 Small groups, gentle support

If you’re a parent, caregiver, or professional supporting a teen who may benefit from creativity, structure, and emotional support, we invite you to watch these reels and learn more.

👉 Swipe, watch, and reach out to reserve a spot or ask questions. We’d love to connect and help your child grow, create, and connect.

✨Behind The Scenes ✨

Meet Gem, our office dog! 🐾
Gem is living her best retired life after years of work as a service dog. Every so often, she takes a break from retirement to hang out in the office—bringing calm energy and plenty of personality with her.

She enjoys chasing her tail, eating treats, soaking up pets, and occasionally stealing Erin’s chair when no one’s looking. Whether she’s curled up nearby or greeting you at the door, Gem is a sweet reminder that comfort and connection come in many forms.

We’re so happy to have her as part of the Hill Street Therapy & Wellness team!!

We love this reminder from our friends at Boston Sensory Solutions, Inc.! ❄️

Snow days don’t have to be about perfection or power struggles. They’re an invitation to slow down, move our bodies, and lean into connection.

Such a grounding, nervous-system–friendly approach that aligns so beautifully with our values at Hill Street. Worth the read (and the save!) 💛

Please stay warm and safe today and always,
The Hill Street Therapy and Wellness Team

❄️ Snow day at home? Before the meltdowns start… read this.

Snow days don’t have to turn into chaos, power struggles, or kids bouncing off the walls by 10am while you try to crank out some work.

Snow days can be regulating.
They can be connecting.
And they don’t require a color-coded schedule or Pinterest magic.

Here’s my Top 5 OT-approved ways to make a snow day work with your family’s nervous systems, not against them.

1- Start with movement + heavy work (this is non-negotiable)
Before screens. Before work. Before asking for anything.
Wall pushes, animal walks, shoveling, carrying laundry baskets—and short bursts of outside time (10–15 minutes is enough).
** Movement isn’t a reward. It’s the foundation. **

2 Name the day as different
Say it out loud: “Today is a different kind of day. Today is a snow day.”
** When expectations shift, stress drops. For everyone** .

3- Create one cozy shared space
Blankets, pillows, softer lighting. One spot to land.
** Regulation happens through environment long before behavior. **

4- Think rhythm, not schedule
Alternate movement → calm all day long.
Outside → movie.
Heavy work → snack. )Clean-up counts as heavy work.)
** Less micromanaging. More flow. More peace. **

5- End the day slow and connected
A cozy movie. Reading aloud. Sharing one favorite moment.
** How the day ends shapes how it’s remembered. **

Here’s the part I want parents to hear loud and clear-
Kids don’t remember perfect days.
They remember days where they felt safe, connected, and understood in their bodies.

Snow days aren’t interruptions.
They’re invitations to slow down, move more, and lean into connection.

(Save this for the next storm. You’ll thank yourself.)

I’m off to take my own advice now! Enjoy the day together.

Mindful Monday 🦋

Today’s mindfulness tip comes from one of our younger clients:

“Always be *awsome* and thoughtful.”

Gentle encouragement to slow down, lead with kindness, and be intentional this week.

A reminder that thoughtfulness and compassion matter—at every stage of life.

What’s one small way you can practice kindness this week? Please share with us in the comments below!
